Elden Ring has been a smashing success for developer FromSoftware. The game was critically acclaimed upon its release earlier this year and has since become the studio’s highest-selling title. Fans have been eagerly anticipating any new content and DLC that FromSoftware could be creating, and that patience has been rewarded. FromSoftware has now revealed that the colosseums in Elden Ring are opening up for PvP combat in an update coming tomorrow....

Harmonix, the developer behind FUSER and Rock Band, has been acquired by Epic Games, it announced today. In a message, Harmonix revealed that it’s pairing up with Epic to “create musical journeys and gameplay for Fortnite.” Though the company was mum on the details, it did provide a short Q&A for fans. The big question, of course: will Harmonix stop making its own games? That’s not likely, as it is still working on Rock Band 4....

For over 20 years, video game publisher and developer Square Enix (formerly known as separate companies, Square and Enix) has delivered top-rated role-playing game franchises. Without Square Enix, gamers wouldn’t be more than 40 titles deep in the iconic Final Fantasy series. It is also the company behind ever-popular titles Life is Strange, Tomb Raider, Just Cause, and more. As always, Square Enix has a busy year ahead. Another Thursday means another glimpse ahead at the Epic Games Store’s next set of weekly freebies, with Evil Dead: The Game and tactical turn-based RPG Dark Deity both now confirmed to be free from Thurday, 17th November. Evil Dead: The Game, which released as an Epic exclusive back in May, is developer Saber Interactive’s spin on the asymmetrical multiplayer horror genre. It sees four human Survivors (picking from a range of familiar Evil Dead characters, armed with everything from chainsaws to boomsticks) roaming a spooky forest in search of artefacts, while a fifth player gives chase as one of four powerful demons - the Warlord, Puppeteer, Necromancer, or Plaguebringer, all able to command undead armies of their own....
Former staff members at Burnout developer Criterion have revealed their scrapped plans for a sequel to the studio’s first-person shooter project Black. When Black launched in 2006 for PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox, it promised to be Criterion’s revolutionary take on the FPS genre - just as Burnout had won legions of fans for the studio’s version of racing. The game recieved largely positive reviews, though early plans for a sequel never materialised....
Former 343 Industries employees have taken to social media to criticise Microsoft following a round of layoffs. Yesterday, 10,000 Microsoft employees lost their jobs, including staff at Bethesda Games Studios, Gears of War developer The Coalition, and Halo maker 343 Industries. Patrick Wren, former senior multiplayer designer on Halo Infinite (and now working at Respawn on Jedi Survivor), was one such former employee who criticised the “incompetent leadership up top”....
Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears, the first feature film adaptation of TV detective drama Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, is now available to stream on Acorn TV (along with all three seasons of the show). The limited-edition T-51b Power Armor Helmet manufactured by Chronicle and sold at GameStop this summer has been recalled due to a mold exposure with the fabric on the inside of the one-size-fits-all wearable collectible. The T-51b helmet is a visual icon of the Fallout games. This replica, in particular, comes from the series’ most recent entry, Fallout 76. The recall appears to affect about 20,000 units that have been distributed through the retailer’s online store....

Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi finally rejoined Square… but not in the way you may expect.
