EA has announced the first batch of changes to the oft-maligned Star Wars Battlefront II progression system via a blog post today, admitting that although the changes are small, they represent the first steps towards making much larger changes in the future for the shooter. First up, the end-of-round credit rewards have been increased, and though a specific figure has not been given, EA also remarks that this has been increased across the board with top performing players seeing an even higher boost....

According to its Steam page, the wave shooter Earth Defense Force 5 will be released for PC this month. There have been unconfirmed reports the release date will be July 11. Carve a path through the invaders Earth Defense Force 5 has been well received since its English PS4 release in December 2018. The series is known for its ludicrous numbers of cheesy science fiction and kaiju movie monsters to kill....

Today Square Enix released a new trailer of the upcoming Mana mobile game Echoes of Mana. The trailer, which shows quite a bit of gameplay, has been launched to celebrate the opening of pre-registration for the game. You can check it out below. Elden Ring is a brand new action-RPG developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco, and it’s finally available on PC and consoles. Borderlands is next in line to become a doomed video game movie. With successful and actually good movies based on video games countable on one hand, Randy Pitchford tweeted — and then quickly deleted — a welcoming message to Eli Roth as the director of the previously announced Borderlands movie. Fortunately, fans managed to snag a screenshot of it before the deletion. Borderlands movie doomed to fail? A thought that many would have laughed at months ago, but it seems that we now have a new Battle Royale king, as last Sunday, Fortnite managed to claim the record for the highest concurrent players in the genre. That’s right, Fortnite managed to beat out PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds with a peak of 3.4 million concurrent players – which is roughly 200,000 more than PUBG’s current record. Unfortunately though, Fortnite’s record didn’t exactly come without its hiccups, as the games servers didn’t exactly hold up very well, with many players reporting of numerous server issues and outages taking place over the weekend....

Escape from Tarkov Arena is a new “standalone game project” from developer Battlestate Games. The spinoff shooter will sport a familiar feel to fans of Escape from Tarkov, but instead place players in gladiatorial battles across Tarkov, “organised by a mysterious group of Arena Masters led by the Host”. Here’s a little glimpse of the new shooter to whet your appetite: “Escape from Tarkov Arena is a standalone game project - a session-based multiplayer first-person shooter for PC with all the known and beloved hardcore game mechanics of Escape from Tarkov,” Battlestate explains....

Fable Fortune, a free-to-play collectible card game, has launched on Kickstarter after the project saw funding stopped by Microsoft. “Set in the whimsical world of Albion, Fable Fortune is a Fable themed free-to-play collectible card game (CCG) that combines the franchise’s most cherished gameplay systems with an array of pioneering game modes,” reads the blurb. The game will launch for PC (Steam & Windows Store) first, with Xbox One and mobile versions also planned....

March 2020’s influx of games has just become a bit lighter. Koei Tecmo has announced that its Fairy Tail RPG has been delayed until June 25, 2020, in Japan. Originally slated for a release in March, the publisher is citing that it wishes to improve the quality of the game and provide some additional adjustments to get everything in order. The delay has also hit the European and US releases. Europe will be getting the game the same day as Japan while America has to wait one additional day to crack open Fairy Tail....

As a rule, I don’t like battle royale games. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, which takes elements of battle royale games and puts them in a different format, seemed like the sort of thing that would be the exception to the rule for me. Sadly, it wasn’t. But that doesn’t mean it’s a bad game. It’s bright, colorful, creative, and entertaining and people who find its premise alluring will likely have a good time, even if they might get sick of some of the stages after a few hours....
