ESL has announced a massive overhaul of their Counter-Strike tournament system. ESL and DreamHack tournaments will now be part of the ESL Pro Tour, a circuit of CS:GO events with a collective prize pool of over $5 million. As all the tournaments are now connected under one circuit, lower level teams will have a more defined route to the big leagues. In the past, ESL and DreamHack tournaments have mostly been independent of each other....

ESL will be hosting the first CS:GO Major of 2020 in Rio de Janeiro, according to a report from DBLTAP. Branded as the “ESL One Rio Major,” the event will be the first CS:GO Major to take place in South America. ESL is a mainstay tournament organizer in professional Counter-Strike, putting on multiple tournament circuits including Intel Extreme Masters, ESL One, and ESL Pro League. They have also hosted more CS:GO Majors than any other company, the first being EMS One Katowice 2014, the second ever Major tournament in Global Offensive....

The entry in The Witcher series was released on the PC in 2007. The action RPG was based on the characters and the world from the dark fantasy novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski. The game’s dark medieval setting is nothing like what is usually associated with the high fantasy genre. Even though there are elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, and of course humans. There’s excitement aplenty in the digital card game scene this week. The Witcher-inspired online game from CD Projekt RED, Gwent, is releasing its newest expansion: Novigrad. Based on the shady, bustling city of Witcher lore, Novigrad comes with a ton of new features, including an entirely new faction. This faction, called the Syndicate, comes with over 90 new cards, 15 of which players can use other faction decks. The expansion also offers a new battle resource and 5 new leaders, all of whom have their own unique abilities....

Evil West, the upcoming hack-and-slash horror shooter, has a new trailer, and will be coming out on September 20th. The developer is Flying Wild Hog, the studio behind the Shadow Warrior games and Trek to Yomi. Since the early ’00s, the Evolution Championship Series has been like the Olympics of one-on-one fighting games. The three-day event will return once again on July 31-August 2 to the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Formerly called the Battle by the Bay, this will be the 19th official Evo tournament (not counting the recent installments of Evo Japan). As usual, it will feature a lineup of nine fighting games. Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout 76 players can now get their mitts on the Fallout Classic Collection for PC. After a mere 10 days, Farming Simulator 19 has sold more than 1 million copies. That’s a lot of corn. The number signifies sales from all around the world on multiple platforms. Final Fantasy 15 has now sold more than 10m copies worldwide since its launch back in November 2016. The new sales milestone was announced today via the official Final Fantasy 15 Twitter account. A closed beta for Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis will launch in summer next year. The upcoming demo of Final Fantasy VII Remake is one of the worst-kept secrets in the industry and it has led to a ton of leaks, as numerous images showing content from an early build of Final Fantasy VII Remake have now appeared online. The images seem to have been ripped from the demo that was uploaded to the PlayStation Network on Christmas Eve. Fans have managed to gain access to the content within the demo and they have uncovered a lot of material from what appears to be an earlier build of the game, as the quality of some of the sprites appears to be an incomplete state....

Square Enix has announced that the Remastered Edition of classic Gamecube-era RPG Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles will release on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and iOS and Android on August 27. The new version of the game – which originally allowed players to connect their Game Boy Advance to their Gamecube – features a number of modern-day enhancements to go alongside the graphical upgrade, including character voice-overs and online multiplayer, and also – perhaps most excitingly – the addition of cross-play functionality....

Final Fantasy XIV‘s rapid update schedule continues apace, with patch 5.21 released earlier today.
