The Grand Cosmos, newly added in Final Fantasy XIV‘s patch 5.1, has quickly become one of my favorite dungeons. In fairness, this might be because I’ve run the other three level 80 dungeons about 900 times apiece, but it’s still beautiful, doesn’t drag on too long, and has some clever boss mechanics. Those of you who were awaiting Larian Studios’ tactics game Divinity: Fallen Heroes may have to wait a bit longer. Actually, make that a lot longer. Today, the developer put out a joint statement alongside Logic Artists, confirming that the game is now in indefinite delay. The team notes that it’s currently “on hold,” with no date as to when it will revisit development. “Originally scheduled for a November 2019 release, it has become clear to everyone involved that the game will need far greater development time and resources than are available now to bring it to fruition, in a fun and sustainable way,” the team stated....

Doom Eternal looks like it’ll no longer be releasing its upcoming Nintendo Switch version at retail any time soon, according to remarks given by Bethesda. As IGN reports, customers in the US were being contacted by GameStop to say their pre-orders for the game had been cancelled, leaving customers wondering if the port was in danger despite the lack of any official announcement of a cancellation. EA has apparently allowed Bioware to focus on making the next as-yet-untitled Dragon Age game a singleplayer RPG and remove all live-service and multiplayer features from the project, according to reports. As per sources cited by Bloomberg’s report, the upcoming game was apparently set to feature a “heavy multiplayer component”, but the recent performance of other EA titles caused its leadership to think differently; with specific examples of Anthem’s recent struggles that eventually resulted in a planned reboot being cancelled, and on the other side of the coin the huge success of single player-focused adventure Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order given as reasons for the change of heart from management....

In 2016, developer Dimps and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment released Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which combined the fighting game mechanics of the Budokai series with some MMORPG elements and was mostly successful in doing so. Years later, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has found its way to Google’s new Stadia platform, and while it’s still a decent game, the Stadia version is clearly the inferior version. Bandai Namco, publisher of Elden Ring, Dark Souls and Soulcalibur, has given an update on its investigation into the July ransomware attack which targeted its servers. In a statement posted yesterday, the publisher admitted it had “become clear that the possibility of external leakage of information… cannot be denied”. This may include, as Bandai Namco admitted back in July, “customer information” of some nature.
