Fortnite’s latest update granted players the ability to pet the game’s animals, but the function leaves a lot to be desired. Everybody and anybody is talking about Avengers: Endgame right now, and rightly so. Don’t worry, you’ll find no spoilers here. We haven’t even seen the movie ourselves yet. We have been far too busy making the most of Fortnite’s Endgame crossover. The LTM pits Thanos’s army against players wielding Avengers’ weapons and honestly, it is everything we could have ever wanted....

PlayStation 4 brawler Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is adding Kam’lanaut as its next playable character, Square Enix has announced. Hailing from 2002’s MMORPG Final Fantasy XI, which is probably one of the most overlooked entries in the venerable Japanese franchise, Kam’lanaut is set to join NT’s already-meaty roster at some point next month on Sony’s format. Meanwhile, the arcade version of Dissidia Final Fantasy will add the Final Fantasy XI villain slightly earlier on September 18....

Fifty years ago this Summer, the landmark Doctor Who story The War Games was transmitted on BBC One. Notable for being the last adventure to star Patrick Troughton as the Doctor, the serial also introduced us to the Doctor’s alien race: The Time Lords. We learn the Doctor is a renegade, albeit a benign one. To celebrate this anniversary, Den Of Geek looks at some of the other renegade Time Lords the Doctor has encountered over the years....

Doctor Who series eleven has echoed aspects of the show from the early sixties and eighties, specifically with its three companions, near pure-historicals, grisly bouts of violence and cynical characters. What has it learned from these eras? Until the end of its second series, Doctor Who featured three companions, and briefly did so again in its fourth and nineteenth series. However in those cases Jamie and Nyssa’s status as companions wasn’t confirmed late in the day, with the following stories being hastily rewritten to accommodate them....

Toukana Interactive’s sublime landscape-building puzzler Dorfromantik has just been updated on Steam, adding the Japan-inspired Sakura biome, controller support, and more. Dorfromantik’s Sakura biome was previously exclusive to the recently released Switch version of the game, and today’s PC update - appropriately known as the Sakura Update - brings over a number of other features formerly only available on Nintendo’s platform. Steam players can now, for instance, enjoy full controller support - which, among other things, helps massively improve what was previously a slightly fiddly experience on Steam Deck....

Bandai Namco has announced three more playable characters will be joining the Dragon Ball FighterZ roster of fighters. The three-eyed clan descendent Tien, and the ever underwhelming Yamcha have been added to the expanding cast, and the trailer also introduced a new character, Android 21. Speaking of Yamcha, he was such an annoying git I’m not quite sure what’s worse: the awful Dragon Ball Evolution movie or him. Anyway, roll on 2018 when I can whoop his ass....

I’m not usually one to go for the Domination victory in Civilization. I’m peaceful, I hate conflict, I love science and knowledge (in Civilization, not in real life ew), and I’ve always opted to go for the diplomatic route in Civ while mesmerizing my opponents with my state’s amazing technological advances. War is expensive, y’know? So much bloodshed. So much needless loss of life. And it just takes way too long and costs too damn much....

Techland has revealed brand new details on Dying Light’s upcoming expansion pack ‘The Following’, confirming that the DLC will introduce a brand new campaign and an additional 10+ hours of gameplay. Completing everything in the DLC may even take some players up to 20 hours, the developer says. The base game, meanwhile, has already sold over 5 million units since launching on PS4, Xbox One and PC in January, a milestone which Techland describes as a “tremendous success”....

Yesterday Electronic Arts posted a statement on Twitter regarding its stance on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Moving forward, all Russian clubs and teams will be removed from two of its most popular sports lineups: FIFA and NHL. This decision was made to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people and, like with other attempts, possibly to pressure Russia into ending the war. Furthermore, Russian and Belarusian clubs and teams will be removed from NHL 22 within the coming weeks....

Endless Ocean: Blue World, Nintendo’s sequel to its 2008 fish touching… er, scuba diving simulation is due in just a few weeks. To get everyone ready for a second trip into the briny deep, Nintendo today released a new trailer. The trailer shows off the expanded set of “unique tools” available to the diver, not the least of which is the Pulsar, which will “heal and calm aquatic life.” Whether the tool was healing or calming the sharks in the video remains, for now, unclear....

In another instance of the impact of coronavirus on the gaming industry, Epic Games has pulled out of the Game Developer’s Conference, or GDC, 2020. Epic Games is not only the developer of multiple games, including the wildly popular Fortnite, but also the creator of the Unreal Engine, one of the most widely used 3D engines in the gaming world. Epic Games’s announcement is only one of the many corporate withdrawals from GDC due to coronavirus, officially designated as COVID-19 by the World Health Organization....

Bethesda has announced that Xbox One owners will be able to dive back into the post-apocalyptic delights of Fallout 76’s beta again this weekend. Writing on Twitter, the developer revealed that another round of beta testing will kick off on Saturday, October 27 at 5.00pm EST and will run for two hours. This will be followed by another two hours on Sunday, October 28 from 12.00pm EST – 2.00pm. The beta comes to PlayStation 4 and PC on October 30....
