Today marked the second day of the Pokemon Air Adventures event in Japan, with a live concert hosted in Okinawa. To be precise, the live concert was hosted in the local town of Chatan and it featured the Okinawa-based band HY and Taiko drummers, on top of the inevitable and adorable team of dancing PIkachu. Of course, among the music performed there was the Pokemon Air Adventure theme song “Sorairo” which translates into “Sky Color,” which was also featured during yesterday’s Pikachu parade in the same city....

Game studio Falling Squirrel is developing a narratively driven game that players have never seen before and never will. That’s because their game, The Vale, is a purely auditory experience: there is no visual component of to the game whatsoever. Players will navigate through an open world, interact with different characters, and engage in combat all without ever being able to see the world around them. Final Fantasy XIV’s latest update — Echoes of a Falling Star — doesn’t go live until February 18th, but in the meantime Square Enix has released a bunch of new screenshots for us to enjoy. These include images from a new questline titled Save the Queen: Blades of Gunnhildr and the battle against Ruby Weapon, Ramuh, Garuda, and Ifrit during the Eden’s Verse raid. The Blue Lions are arguably the strongest house in the game and have earned that reputation. These noble warriors serve the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus as strong knights and they fight with lances. They are perhaps the easiest house in the game. These holy warriors are juggernauts on the battlefield and are devoted to maintaining the status quo of the land with their Holy Kingdom reigning supreme. The Xbox 360 version of Fallout: New Vegas is now backward compatible with Xbox One, Microsoft has confirmed. The 2010 RPG is joined by a host of new backward compatible titles, including I Am Alive, Comic Jumper, Joe Danger Special Edition, Blood Knights, Crystal Quest, Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara and Red Faction: Battlegrounds. Update: Bethesda aims to bring mod support to PS4 too, but it will be after Xbox One. Speaking on YouTube’s E3 coverage, Todd Howard, game director at Bethesda Game Studios, said that the Fallout 4 Creation Kit will launch in early 2016 on PC, then at an unspecified later date on Xbox One and finally he’s hoping it will also come to PS4. Fallout 76 players have organised a competitive marathon in the massively multiplayer wasteland (via VG247). Well, this is bizarre. The Wastelanders update—which added NPCs, questlines, and factions—released only a fortnight ago. This must be one way of blowing off steam while the Raiders and the Settlers nuke and duke it out. So, the marathon doesn’t adhere to the definition of a marathon: it probably isn’t 42 miles long and it doesn’t ask the player to physically go the distance....

Ubisoft’s open-world liberate-’em-up Far Cry 5 sold almost five million copies during its launch week, according to data obtained by The Jefferies Group. To put it into perspective, the report states the 2014’s Far Cry 4 managed to flog around eight million copies during its first 12 months on sale, so that’s a mighty impressive achievement. It was previously confirmed that Far Cry 5 had become the fastest-selling entry in the franchise to date, although Ubisoft didn’t divulge any actual sales figures for the critically acclaimed sequel....

FIFA 17’s EA Access trial will offer subscribers 10 hours access to FIFA Ultimate Team and “some time” with the game’s single-player campaign ‘The Journey’, EA has revealed. That’s pretty different to last year’s FIFA 16 trial, which gave subscribers 10 hours access to every game mode. EA hasn’t clarified why this year’s trial is different, although we imagine it might have something to do with the campaign mode. If you’re an EA or Origin Access subscriber, look out for the trial on September 22, one week ahead of the game’s full launch on September 29....
