Developer Maze Theory alongside BBC Studios and publisher Just Add Water has announced a new Doctor Who game entitled Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality coming to consoles and PC next year. The sequel, which is said to “reimagine” last year’s VR game Doctor Who: The Edge of Time and continue that game’s story will include all new gameplay alongside plenty of new monsters and planets, as well as classic Who foes the Daleks, the Cybermen and the Weeping Angels....

Say what you will about Epic Games Store, but it’s hard to decry how awesome all the free games are. Between Aug. 15 and 22, those who have downloaded the EGS launcher will be able to grab their copies of Hyper Light Drifter and Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden at no cost. Hyper Light Drifter is Heart Machine’s stunningly beautiful yet very challenging hack-and-slash adventure. The story is never directly told to the player; in fact, there’s no spoken dialogue at all....

Dragon Ball FighterZ fans have been hankering after a launch time on the 26th. Unfortunately, this is not going to be a midnight global launch on the 26th for PC gamers. Players are going to have to wait a little later than they had expected as it’s not launching until 5PM GMT on the 26th which his 9AM PST and 12PM EST tomorrow. Shocking only the nerdiest of us watching, a brand new Dungeons & Dragons game was announced at The Game Awards. While not surprising on its own, what really tipped the scales was the fact that this latest game would be returning players to the legendary setting of Icewind Dale. Free-to-play PS3 shooter DUST 514 is to close down on May 31, making way for a new PC shooter being developed on Unreal Engine 4, CCP has announced. “We are very proud of what we’ve learned and accomplished with DUST 514 on PlayStation 3 over the past three years and it is an honour to be a part of such a dedicated community,” reads a community blog post. “We consider DUST 514 one of the best free-to-play offerings on the platform, but the years have caught up with us....

The 2020 Entertainment, Attractions & Gaming International Expo was recently held in London, and TheGamer was on hand to try out the new games that could soon be making their way to arcades, malls, and theme parks near you. The Sega booth had a mixture of games based on classic Sega franchises and movie tie-ins. There was a focus on machines that offer physical feedback and special effects that make the player feel as if they’re really in the game, which made for some impressive demonstrations....

A tweet from the official Elden Ring account states: “An update for the #Steam client has been released which should prevent the issue of conflicting local and cloud save data. Elvis Presley, the King of Rock (all due respect to Run-DMC), is getting what could become a definitive biopic, this one under the auspices of auteur director Baz Luhrmann. Former teen star Austin Butler, recently seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, will get all shook up to play Presley, joined by an increasingly impressive supporting cast. The screenplay to the currently-untitled film was written by Luhrmann and Craig Pearce....

CCP Games, the developer behind Eve Online, is working on a tactical shooter set in the Eve universe. CCP spoke about this new project at this year’s Fanfest in Reykjavik (via PCGamesN). It will be set in New Eden, and will feature “atmospheric visuals.” “We recognise that a hard sci-fi FPS game set in the Eve Universe is a very popular concept,” the company said in a statement. “CCP is committed to offering an innovative multiplayer shooter with atmospheric visuals....

This week, a patent surfaced that should give gamers there first real look at the PlayStation 5 controller, assumed to be labeled the DualShock 5. Patent leaks are nothing new for the PS5 but many of them aren’t necessarily tied to the finished console, but this controller appears to be what players will be using late next year. Rogue-like action platformer Fallback is coming to PC very soon, and TheGamer has an exclusive first look. Fallback is the first game developed by ENROAD, an independent studio made up of Ubisoft and Amplitude Studios veterans. Fallback may look similar to other rogue-likes like Dead Cells or Rogue Legacy, but the game’s ace up its sleeve is camera rotation mechanic that literally adds another dimension to gameplay. Fallback is about group of survivors living in a subterranean society in the distant future after the collapse of civilization....

As of today, Fallout 76 players can opt to pay $12.99/month, or $100/year, to access a host of new features with the Fallout 1st service. This service arrives as part of Update 14, which addresses several bugs and introduces the Halloween event as well. It’s important to note that players will still need to own the base game in order to activate the service. Fallout 1st members can expect private worlds, a Scrapbox, survival tents, Atoms to spend, and exclusive emotes and outfits....

It wouldn’t be E3 without some leaks right before showtime. Ubisoft had a big one drop shortly before its Ubisoft Forward conference today. In a now deleted piece of advertisement for the upcoming Far Cry 6, some details on the game’s season pass were revealed. Ubisoft quickly took down the video, but some fast-fingered Reddit users were able to capture the footage. The trailer shows that Far Cry 3’s Vaas Montenegro, Far Cry 4’s Pagan Min, and Far Cry 5’s Joseph Seed will all be playable in some capacity in the game....

Ubisoft has revealed the plans for Far Cry 6‘s post launch content, including three free very unexpected crossover missions. We’re promised weekly insurgency missions and new gear released regularly following the launch of the game. Available after completing the game’s main campaign, new threats will regularly rise across the island of Yara. All of these will be able to be undertaken either solo or in co-op. Then over the course of the game’s first year, three special crossover missions will be added to the game....
