Ubisoft’s Far Cry series became a household name after the success of Far Cry 3. Since then, Ubisoft has been pumping out other sequels and spin-offs, with some better than others. In anticipation for the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Square Enix has released a free demo on PS4 to give players a chance to familiarize themselves with the new game before its launch. However, it appears that the developers decided to sneak a secret or two into the game, and of course players have been quick to tear the demo apart to find them. The secret comes at the end of the demo, and gives a little extra footage to the quick cut of clips from later on in the full version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake that plays once the opening mission has been completed....

Nobuo Uematsu has had to back out of an upcoming concert at the Ishikawa Ongakudō hall in October due to his “continuing poor health”. Nobuo Uematsu was supposed to take part in the Game o Irodoru Orchestra concert, which was going to include music from games that he worked on throughout his entire career, most notably the ones created by Hironobu Sakaguchi, who created the Final Fantasy series. Dog Ear Records has explained that Uematsu’s health issues will prevent him from performing the concert, as well as engaging in a talking segment that was planned for afterward....

It seems that the delay of Final Fantasy VII Remake is also affecting the one-year exclusivity deal that Sony has with Square Enix, as the game will remain a PlayStation 4 exclusive until April 10, 2021. Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced during Sony’s conference at E3 2015. The initial trailer ended with a message saying that gamers could play it first on PlayStation 4, leading fans to believe that the game would start out as a Sony exclusive, before moving to other platforms....

Final Fantasy X is undoubtedly one of the best games in Square Enix’s catalog, and Blitzball is easily one of the best mini games ever featured in a Final Fantasy game. It’s entirely likely that some of us sank just as many hours into it as we did the core game! Based on multiple playthroughs, the time has to be in the hundreds of hours, if not more. At first it was tricky to get the hang of, but after practice in order to get some of the best equipment, we learned to love it just as much as we loved the core game....

Square Enix has revealed the first details for Final Fantasy XV – Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades, announcing that all Final Fantasy XV season pass owners will be able to exclusively play the closed beta from August 3-8, 2017. Players will be able to buddy up with three others, working together to restore the light back to Lucis. Comrades allows players to create their own customised character, before joining with up to three other players to complete multiplayer quests....

Provided to NeoGAF member Mama Robotnik by an “unnamed source”, the pre-alpha footage allegedly shows off some of the game’s opening sequences, introducing players to the game’s opening area and its new protagonist Asher. The game is said to have been in development at Silent Hill: Shattered Memories developer Climax for three years before being cancelled by Square Enix in 2012....

There’s a subtle art to making an action roguelite. Some – like Enter the Gungeon, Nuclear Throne, and The Binding of Isaac‘s initial release – get it right. Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, has said during the publisher’s recent earnings call (via IGN) that it intends to keep on trucking with loot boxes, despite the controversial feature coming under fire from regulators as being an illegal form of gambling. Wilson used FIFA Ultimate Team as an example, stating the publishing powerhouse does not consider this or loot boxes to be gambling. ‘Firstly, players always receive a specified number of items in each FUT pack, and secondly we don’t provide or authorise any way to cash out or sell items or virtual currency for real money,’ he said....

EA will develop games for the Nintendo NX “if it makes sense” to do so, EA Studios’ executive vice president Patrick Soderlund has said. Speaking to the BBC about Nintendo’s upcoming console, Soderlund explained that both he and EA are “huge fans of Nintendo”, and that “they’re the reason why I started making games”. “We’re in constant communication with them,” he added, “and when they come to market something – and if it makes sense for us – we’ll be there....
