EA Sports’ FIFA 19 has scored a UK number one following its launch last week, though physical sales of the footie sequel are down by 25% in comparison to last year’s instalment. Still, that didn’t stop the game from becoming the UK’s biggest title of 2018 so far (via GI.biz), although perhaps that was inevitable – it’s FIFA, after all. In terms of platforms, FIFA 19 sold the lion’s share of copies on PlayStation 4 (64%), with Xbox One coming in second at 35% and Switch at just 1%....

FIFA 23 Ultimate Team is already awash with overpowered promo cards, but the lure of Ones to Watch is eternal, and thanks to the addition of Nations to Watch upgrades on top of last year’s Wins to Watch mechanic, these cards may actually remain usable in the game for longer than is traditional. Haaland certainly will, if nobody else! But with three separate sources of potential upgrades for these cards—wins for the team, wins for the country, and of course Team of the Week cards for the individual—it can be tough to keep track of which card is about to get a performance boost and potentially go up in value....

Square Enix released new optional items in Final Fantasy XIV’s official store, including the much-anticipated “Street Attire.” If you’re unfamiliar with what “optional items” are, they’re basically paid DLC that you can purchase in addition to the monthly subscription. The PS3 version of Dishonored will be available to download for free as part of next month’s PlayStation Plus line-up, Sony has announced. “Dishonored is coming to PlayStation Plus (PS3) in April,” read a tweet from PlayStation Europe. “Sorry for the confusion this month – we pulled the trigger too early!” Some fans were left confused after a reference to Dishonored was spotted in the URL of this month’s PlayStation Plus announcement....

Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct brought a veritable wave of game release news for fans, revealing that it’s not just a new batch of NES ports that are set to bring gamers nostalgia: Nintendo also announced that a port of Doom 64 will arrive on the Nintendo Switch ahead of the holiday season. Bethesda Softworks senior vice president Pete Hines appeared on the stream to confirm that Doom 64 will be released on Friday, November 22, 2019....

Capcom’s DuckTales Remastered, the 2013 remake of a classic NES game based on the Disney Afternoon cartoon, is back on sale after getting pulled from digital store shelves last August. Fans can once again grab Scrooge McDuck’s platforming adventure on PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One (through the platform’s backwards compatibility program). DuckTales Remastered originally released at the tail end of the last console generation, keeping the title somewhat under the radar despite being based on a beloved property....

EA has announced the formation of a brand new studio known as Ridgeline Games, that’ll be creating a new narrative campaign set in the Battlefield universe. The newly-formed studio is based in Seattle, and will be lead by Marcus Lehto -who himself is the former co-creator of the Halo series.
