Dontnod Entertainment, best known for the Life is Strange games, has announced its first game as a third-party publisher. It’ called Gerda: A Flame in Winter. Gerda: A Flame in Winter is a narrative game, set during the German occupation of Denmark, in WWII. Dontnod unveiled it during yesterday’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase. This Doom Patrol review contains spoilers. Doom Patrol Episode 2 Enter Cyborg. After premiering last week with a weird, off-the-ball introductory pilot full of comic book nods, the second episode of Doom Patrol connects itself to the larger DC Universe. But it does so without sacrificing the heart, and absurdity of the show about super-zeroes. I mean, this is an episode featuring a talking cockroach who is a doomsday disciple, and a pocket universe inside a donkey–which is to say “Donkey Patrol” is weirdly great....

Despite being released in 2016 and having multiple other DBZ games come out after it., Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is still being enjoyed by fans due to a vast amount of paid and free DLC content. Many of this DLC content is more skills, Parallel Quests and playable characters. But when developer Dimps dropped the transformation Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan for players to use on their own custom characters, players were scrambling to obtain the iconic transformation for themselves....

Old school shooters have always been where you’ll find video games at their most direct, and the genre’s side-scrolling subset is where you go to see them at their most stately and spectacular. Konami’s Scramble kickstarted the form in 1982 before it evolved into the atmospheric masterpiece Gradius, while Taito brought to the genre a cinematic scope with the three-screen spectacle of Darius. With complex scoring mechanics not so much of a concern there’s a joyful simplicity to the action, matched by pure-hearted sci-fi panoramas that make these games spaced out thrill rides....

Following a fairly extensive early access period, Media Molecule’s powerful new game creation system, Dreams, has finally been released. Indeed, PlayStation 4 owners worldwide are now diving head first into this unique new title, experiencing the ambitious creations of other fans and making their very own dreams a reality. That said, Media Molecule indicates that PS4 owners may not be the only ones that are able to play Dreams moving forward, suggesting that a PS5 port of the game could certainly be in the cards....

Waiting for the next Neverwinter Nights game is going to take a while, but Atari has been working on another little Dungeons & Dragons game to be released sometime in 2011 for Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network download. Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale takes place in the setting of Forgotten Realms, which author R.A. Salvatore has written many books. Daggerdale is planned to be module-based (episodic), much like any tabletop D&D adventure, where you could finish a small story and continue to the next....

Techland announced a release date today for its upcoming DLC, the Dying Light: Hellraid expansion. On July 23, zombie slayers can enter a haunted castle where a gateway to hell itself has opened. Skeletal minions armed with medieval weaponry and hellish powers will pour out and attempt to take your soul. Grab some cold steel of your own and get to work. Additionally, anyone keenly interested in this DLC should preorder it on Steam today, because the beta is live through June 29....

The Dying Light 2 1.3.0 update is here and with it comes a slew of tings to note, from the squashing of bugs in the co-op mode to new features. The update isn’t huge by any means, but it should make the experience more enjoyable for players. It also adds a few things that might even entice some players to return to the game. It’s fair to say that Dying light 2 was a pretty buggy game at launch, so much so that Techland has dealt with more than 1000 bugs since it released....

Koei Tecmo has released Dynasty Warriors 9 update 1.03, adding a bunch of key fixes for the open-world button mashing sequel. One of the key additions this patch brings is improvements to the frame rate for the PS4 version of the game, as well as adding a ‘Graphics’ setting that allows users to stabalise the frame rate for other systems outside of PS4 Pro. Elsewhere, update 1.03 also stomps down on some minor issues with the game (though it wasn’t specified what they are), as well as adding ‘corrections that prevented an issue in which the ending movie not be played and clearing the game was impossible during the endings for some officers....

EA gets flak for a lot questionable decisions made over the years. Any comment section on something related to the company tells the story - there seems to be a large number of people burned by EA over the years in some capacity at least. EA has a long way to go to win over the goodwill of gamers again, but it’s nice to see them be the good guy every once in a while....

Elden Ring is one of the massive projects from Bandai Namco and FromSoftware. It’s been praised not only by audiences but also by the stellar reviews of the critics. But there’s a minor hiccup while downloading it from Steam. If you are one of the players who have pre-ordered the game on Steam, you will have to preload it before you enter the mystical universe of Elden Ring. It is taking a lot of time before Steam unpacks and allows you to play the game....

Endzone – A World Apart launched about six months ago, selling over 350,000 units along the way. People are, as always, very interested in building things in post-apocalyptic environments. The game is about to get even more lively, as its Prosperity expansion has been announced to launch in October. On top of that, there’s even a new trailer showing off what the expansion will bring to the table. If you’ve been itching for more Endzone content, this is likely to bring a whole lot of extra goodness to the game’s suite of available content....

Blizzard has been in the midst of major controversy as of late, banning a Hearthstone player for voicing his support for Hong Kong during a tournament. But while that community is running wild with comments about their ethics, Epic Games has opted to take a different path. While speaking with the Verge, Epic made it clear that it won’t ban any of its tournament players for any political speech. “Epic supports everyone’s right to express their views on politics and human rights,” a rep for the company explained....

Compile Heart released four more videos of the upcoming JRPG Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord, focusing on the music. Like the previous videos and the second batch, these don’t show any gameplay but reveal four of the songs performed by the game’s divas. The first two, performed by Fleur, are “Chigiri no Hanabira” (Petals of the Covenant) and “Kage no Kyoukai” (Shadows and Boundaries). The second pair, performed by the enemy diva Glace are “Rinka” (Will-o’-the-wisp) and “Doke” (Buffoon)....

I feel kind of bad. I’m trying to get through various big story games like Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher 3, and a Skyrim replay, but you know what? I just keep playing FIFA. I’m addicted to this series. I play every single installment with a sort of mad, fevered passion, neglecting bigger games just to spend more time taking my team from glory to glory. That’s not to say that the games are flawless....
