Fallout 76, the online multiplayer post-apocalypse survival game, maybe have just made the franchise’s best-known fan creation canon. The Final Pam, created/released by Griffin and Justin McElroy for their Polygon video series Monster Factory, is clearly being referenced in the Fallout 76 beta. For those completely unaware of what’s going on: Monster Factory is a Youtube series wherein brothers Justin and Griffin McElroy play with the character creation options in a number of games - Mass Effect 2, The Sims, Second Life, and perhaps most notoriously, Fallout 4....

Let’s clear one thing up first, this is not an article advocating for the mostly plotless wasteland of Fallout 76 to become the norm for single-player Fallout games. Rather, the Bethesda team needs to reassess how they write protagonist characters and main questlines, putting less emphasis on canon characterization and more on customization and roleplaying. Today Square Enix made two new Final Fantasy VII Remake figures available for pre-orders, portraying popular heroine Tifa Lockhart. Like the previously-revealed pair of figures portraying Cloud, we’re getting a Static Arts figure and a Play Arts Kai action figure. Specifically, Tifa is portrayed in her Chun-Li-style fighter dress. The Static Arts figure can be pre-ordered on Ami Ami for 17,600 yen (which roughly translates into $127). She will be released on March 2023 and she’s 164mm tall due to the sitting pose....

Every year Final Fantasy XIV players welcome Valentine’s Day with Eorzea’s own version of the sweet celebration, Valentione’s day. This year will be no exception, with the seasonal event starting on February 8 and ending on February 21. You’ll need to be level 15 to participate, but this shouldn’t be an issue to achieve even for new players....

For all the praise Deathloop received when it released, there was plenty of criticism on the other end of the spectrum. Many players lambasted its PC version, calling it out for numerous technical issues. Frame drops, wonky mouse-controlled camera, stuttering, all of which helped make up a list of issues that many PC owners couldn’t ignore. The hype to return to Hell is at an all-time high, and it shows within id Software’s newest TV spot for Doom Eternal. Despite some seeing it as an underwhelming marketing maneuver, it’s clear the developer and Bethesda had to tone down the more gun-toting and demon-head-crushing aspects of the title to fit the bill for a wider audience. Even still, the tactic proves to work in their favor, as Mick Gordon’s rap over a series of epic shots, many of which have already been teased in previous trailers, gears players up for their nose-dive back into the demon-infested underworld....

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is coming out this month, and they’ve released a sort of recap trailer to remind fans about all the amazing moments that took place over the course of Akira Toriyama’s iconic anime and manga. Titled “This Time on Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot,” the trailer offers brief glimpses into all the story’s major events, from the very first episode until the final showdown with Kid Buu. It also shows the cast of allies and supporting characters that you’ll meet along the way, ranging from obvious ones such as Trunks and Vegeta to more obscure characters such as the warrior Nam who once fought against Goku in hopes of winning enough money to bring water to his dying desert village....

The upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is shaping up to hit all the high points of the show. One of those high points was just revealed in the form of a classic fight between Goku and Vegeta, the Prince of Saiyans. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has promised to show every aspect of Goku’s life, from eating to fighting. The fight against Vegeta before the beginning of the journey to Namek is one of the most important parts of that life, and it’s treated that way....

Although the Dragon Ball Super episode where the fighters play baseball may be the freshest on many’s minds, it’s actually not the first episode in the franchise to feature America’s pastime. The Buu Saga actually featured Gohan playing baseball in one episode in an attempt to fit in at his high school, and according to recent leaks, Gohan may be playing baseball again in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. This information comes from a leak received second hand by Ken Xyro, a translator and YouTuber with a passion for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot....

Dwarf Fortress on PC Dwarf Fortress is an intimidating game. It is a venerable grandfather of an entire genre. Rimworld and many other deep colonist survival sim games owe much of their DNA to this 2002 game. Minecraft holds Dwarf Fortress as an influence. This game was in the Museum of Modern Art for a time as a part of gaming history. It’s also intimidating to play, as its ASCII graphics and hard-to-learn hard-to-master gameplay give even the most hardcore management game enthusiast pause....

The Dying Light Gamescom demo has been uploaded for all to enjoy, and shows off its new parkour movesets, exciting environments, and a story mission with a choice. The demo showcases one of the story’s main missions, restoring the water supply to The City. It falls to the player to siphon it back before all hell breaks loose, but the protagonist isn’t in great shape himself, suffering with the zombie infection....

A “small number of employees” have been laid off from EA Montreal, EA has confirmed. In a statement provided to Gamasutra, EA said that it had made the “staffing change in our Montreal studio to align with our current development and service plans. A small number of employees were impacted, and we are working closely with each of them to ensure the best transition possible.” The company adds that the staff changes “do not impact our current development plans”....

Eastshade will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 21, as announced in a new trailer from developer Eastshade Studios. Eastshade is an archaic, mystical, and beautiful island populated by charming inhabitants with their own unique stories to tell. Paintings of the world can be traded for items, knowledge, and long lost secrets. As the player interacts with their surroundings, the consequences ripple outwards to affect future interactions with new characters, and the forgotten places of Eastshade will come to the fore....
