Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot proved to be great fun for players despite concerns that it would retell the worn out story of Dragon Ball Z. The game proved that it isn’t the story of Dragon Ball Z that is worn out, but the way in which video games have told it, and by adding RPG elements and removing multiplayer aspects, developers were able to provide a great experience. With that in mind, some fans find themselves wanting to replay certain moments of the story, a wish which will soon be granted not by Shenron, but by the developers after they roll out the time machine update coming soon....

Update: Hold your horses. Square Enix has told GameSpot that Dragon Quest X and XI are “under consideration” for release on Nintendo NX, but has no further information at this time. This means there’s still time for another publisher to officially announce the first Nintendo NX game. Original story: The first two games for Nintendo NX have been announced, and they’re not from Nintendo. Square Enix has confirmed that both Dragon Quest X and XI will launch for the new Nintendo system....

Here’s an astounding statistic: a game that slaps the action hack-and-slash elements of Dragon Quest together with the build-it-and-they-will-come functionality of Minecraft has sold over 1.1 million units. On the surface, there’s not a whole lot to Dragon Quest Builders 2. The combat system is so simple it might as well be a LEGO game from a decade ago (just pick one, it doesn’t really matter which), while the building system is essentially the same as Minecraft, which is already over a decade old....

Factions have existed in the world of Dungeons and Dragons throughout multiple editions of the game, and the 5th edition is no different. However, while some campaign sourcebooks may explain how a character first joins up with a faction, there’s still the matter of weaving that faction through future adventures–and that’s where the available D&D sourcebooks become lacking. Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition offers five different joinable factions (some better suited to a certain class or moral alignment than others), and joining them offers some pretty cool perks within most of the pre-written adventure books available from Wizards of the Coast....

Hellraid was added to Dying Light a while back, bringing with it a fairly short but enjoyable bit of dungeon action. However, an update has added more. Although Techland is now hard at work on the looming sequel, they’ve surprised us with a free update to the DLC. It’s a new story mode that adds weapons, areas, and visual effects. The update is now available on PC and consoles. The update gives players a great reason to jump back into the game, and is a solid way to get the game back in people’s heads prior to the sequel’s supposed release later this year....

Twitch chat played Elden Ring and the results were pretty laughable. Streamer Bruce Greene ran a subathon on his channel, streaming for almost 40 hours in one go (thanks, PC Gamer). Half the funds raised were donated to UNICEF and the Red Cross in support of Ukraine. Of course, sleep was needed in the midst of that, so he turned to Twitch chat to play the game for him. The ‘Twitch plays’ format became popular through the Pokémon games, but has since been used for others too....

Elden Ring is still a few months off, but lately we’ve been getting a plethora of news and reveals. Last week, we got a fresh, 15-minute look at the game. And earlier today, publisher Bandai Namco offered an idea on how the PC specs will line up. Like Sekiro before it, Elden Ring will have a 60 fps cap, and resolutions up to 4K, when it launches on PC. The publisher also confirmed that Elden Ring will have support for ray tracing, but that will come later as a patch....

Days after Blizzard upset fans for banning Hearthstone pro Blitzchung, revoking his title, and rescinding his prize money for making a statement against Communist China, Epic Games has affirmed that it would not ban players for making political statements. This has echoed the sentiment shared by many members of the online community since Blizzard’s controversial move, with US Senator Marco Rubio even criticizing Blizzard. In a statement, an Epic Games spokesperson said, “Epic supports everyone’s right to express their views on politics and human rights....

Epic Games is the latest games company to suspend sales of its products in Russia whilst its unprovoked war against Ukraine persists. In a statement shared to its social media channels yesterday, Epic Games confirmed it was “stopping commerce with Russia” but stopped short of restricting access for Russians entirely in order to “keep all lines of dialogue open”. “Epic is stopping commerce with Russia in our games in response to its invasion of Ukraine,” the company said in its brief statement....

The 1997 cult horror fave’s original producers, Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin, are reportedly both onboard the new Event Horizon project, and Adam Wingard has been tapped to direct and produce it. Some of you are likely to immediately recognize Wingard’s name, but for everyone it doesn’t ring a bell with, he previously helmed fare like The Guest, You’re Next, Netflix’s Death Note, and the rebooted Blair Witch. The remake of Resident Evil 3 was announced during PlayStation’s December State of Play and is the next game to be built off of Capcom’s RE Engine. Just as with the remake of Resident Evil 2, the game is being developed entirely from the ground up, as opposed to just upgrading the visual aspects of the GameCube or original PlayStation game. The characters from the original title have also been visually re-imagined....

Time-locked demos aren’t new, but they do offer a sense of urgency. The latest example is Resident Evil 2‘s 1-shot demo, which can only be played for 30-minutes in total. For fans, the demo serves as taste of what’s to come on January 25, when the full game launches. We’ve already played it ourselves, and you can read about our initial impressions here. A 1-shot timed demo means that there’s no time to admire young Leon is or to revel in every gross sinew modeled in the zombie’s exposed flesh....

Far Cry 5’s Vietnam War-themed DLC Hours of Darkness will be released on June 5, Ubisoft has announced. Available as part of the open-world shooter’s Season Pass or as a separate download, Hours of Darkness puts you in control of Hope County’s Wendell ‘Red’ Redler as he embarks on a mission to locate his missing squad in war-torn Vietnam. It’s playable in solo or co-op, and sees you battling through jungles while scrapping with the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army as you attempt to rescue your imprisoned buddies....

GIANTS Software has opened the barn door on the latest instalment in the Farming Simulator franchise. Due out on PS4, PC, and Xbox One in late 2018, Farming Simulator 19 promises a crop load of new changes for the multi-million selling (yes, these games actually do pretty well) franchise.
