Dwarf Fortress’ December Steam launch was a big hit - it sold almost half a million copies in less than a month. Bay 12 Games’ famously impenetrable simulation game launched on Steam on 6th December in spruced up form, with actual graphics as opposed to the text or “ASCII” graphics of the original version. In a forum post, programmer and co-designer Tarn Adams declared Dwarf Fortress’ Steam launch, which came after 16 years of free availability, a “wild success”....

Techland has declared that this week’s update to Dying Light 2: Stay Human will add the much requested New Game + mode to the game. Update 1.3.0 will arrive on April 27, and will be available to players once they’ve finished the base game. The new mode will allow players to replay the story and make different choices to the ones they made, but keep much of their progression. The team also released a new Dying 2 Know video, explaining how the mode will work....

EA Sports has revealed it’s exploring the idea of rebranding its iconic FIFA football series and giving it a new name. The news came in a press release trumpeting the success of FIFA 22. Looking to the future, the company said “we’re also exploring the idea of renaming our global EA SPORTS football games. This means we’re reviewing our naming rights agreement with FIFA, which is separate from all our other official partnerships and licenses across the football world....

The Play Label of Electronic Arts has announced that its Hasbro branded video games have sold a combined total of more than eight million units at retail globally. To date the alliance between EA and Hasbro has seen the launch of 20 different Hasbro brands on 18 different digital platforms. “EA’s Hasbro-branded line-up has experienced tremendous success in the casual games market with video games that hold great appeal for families and kids as we’ve retained the essence of Hasbro’s iconic brands while re-imagining the toy and board game play experiences,” said Chip Lange, Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA’s Hasbro Division....

It appears Facebook is gearing up to announce the next iteration in their VR-headset system that doesn’t require a PC, according to promotional material that has found its way online. Gust and Koei Tecmo’s Fairy Tail game will add characters Rogue Cheney, Kagura Mikazuchi, Sherria Blendy, Sting Eucliffe, and Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki to the role-playing adaptation of the anime (via Gematsu). The five will join Natsu Dragneel, Lucy Heartfilia, Wendy Marvell, Gray Fullbuster, Erza Scarlet, Gajeel Redfox, and Juvia Lockser, and all will be playable.
