EA has issued a statement responding to the lukewarm critical reception of its Medal of Honor reboot which saw the publisher’s share price fall 6 per cent on Tuesday. The game currently holds a Metacritic score of 76 out of 100 with reviews coming in as low as 60/100. We scored the game 7/10. “Critics’ scores are highly subjective,” said EA, and pointed to “the highest pre-orders in the 11-year history of the Medal of Honor franchise”, but didn’t offer sales figures....

Electronic Arts has announced that it will be offering gamers a tantalising glimpse at the new Battlefield game and the recently-delayed Anthem at EA Play 2018 this summer. The event, which EA has favoured in recent years in place of the traditional E3 show floor offering, will take place at the Hollywood Palladium from June 9-11 and runs 2.00pm – 8.00pm on the Saturday and 10.00am – 8.00pm on Sunday and Monday....

EA seems to be dropping something else besides employees, now confirming that they will be shutting down servers on quite a few older titles in their library. So, if you own Facebreaker, Fight Night Round 3 (PS2), Fantasy Football ‘09, Madden ‘09 (Wii/PSP), or NHL ‘07 then you better blow some dust off those titles because the online in these games are going to start getting the axe early this February....

There are a whole lot of special items and consumables that can be used to boost your bonuses in Elden Ring. Great Runes are one of the items dropped by the main bosses that can be equipped to earn passive bonuses. There’s one each Great rune dropped by the main bosses after defeating them. FromSoftware has dropped a new patch for Elden Ring, which is available to download on your console of choice right now. As per the patch notes, the 1.3 update mainly focuses around stability and balance changes. However, some of the notable additions include some new NPC elements. These include the ability to record the icon and name of an NPC on the map after you’ve encountered them, which should make finding them again on your return much easier....

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have moved to allay fears that the Elden Ring online servers could be in jeopardy for the game’s launch later this month. Last month, online servers for the PC versions of several Dark Souls games were taken offline. Though no official reason was given, members of the Dark Souls subreddit claimed to have uncovered an exploit that could allow malicious code to be executed remotely. The post also claimed that the same exploit would be possible in Elden Ring....

The speedrun record for completing Elden Ring has once again been beaten. As reported by DualShockers, speedrunner and streamer Hazeblade has now finished the game in under 25 minutes, beating the previous record of 29 minutes by Distortion2. Hazeblade has used a glitch called zipping or wrong warping that allows players to teleport across the map and skip large parts of the game. Interestingly, he doesn’t choose the Samurai class at the start like other speedrunners have (he goes with Warrior instead), but he does still pick up the Icerind Hatchet weapon that’s proven popular for its freezing ability....

During Cologne, Germany’s Gamescom video game trade show happening this week, Nintendo streamed a Direct-esque showcase titled Indie World, highlighting a number of indie games coming to the Switch, both new releases and ports of recent classics. Here are all the games that were announced during the Indie World stream. Evil Dead: The Game publisher Saber Interactive has declared it’ll be showing more of the upcoming asymmetrical horror game and revealing four new games over the next week. According to the press release, one of these new games will be revealed at The Game Awards on Thursday night. Focus Entertainment will be publishing, continuing their partnership from Snowrunner and World War Z. Following that, three more games will be announced during the Twitch Winter Gathering on Friday, December 10....

Fallout 4 has so much stuff in it you can play it for 400 hours and still not see everything, according to lead producer Jeff Gardiner. In an interview with OXM (via gamespresso), Gardiner spoke of his time with the game. “I’ve played the game for probably 400 hours, and I’m still finding stuff that I haven’t seen.” Gardiner goes on to explain this is due in part to Fallout 4’s crafting system....

Bethesda’s Fallout 76 will be getting a Public Test Server (PTS) early next year. This server will allow players to test out new updates for Fallout 76 before they’re live for everyone, and is common for multiplayer titles to help work out issues with new content. The title has received a lot of criticism lately, including a recent update making Fallout 76 pay-to-win. While Bethesda has been trying to recover from Fallout 76’s disastrous launch, the game has been plagued with buggy DLC and other issues....

Cyberpunk 2077 definitely wowed me due to its photo mode feature. Indeed, I think I may have gone overboard with the plethora of guides I’ve written since the vast majority of the images I’ve included are photo mode shots. I simply couldn’t get enough of the visuals and flair. Still, those who like strutting around Night City while showing off their sense of fashion might have some qualms given that the game doesn’t let you preview items before purchasing them from a vendor....

FIFA 17 will be playable for the first time in the UK at next month’s Insomnia58, organiser Multiplay has announced. The event, which takes place at Birmingham’s NEC between August 26-28, will mark the first public hands-on showing for this year’s football game ahead of its September launch, although specific details on the demo have yet to be revealed. “The UK is obviously a huge market for the FIFA series and so we are delighted, through Insomnia58, to be able to offer UK players the first chance to come and try out the latest installment,” said EA Sports’ senior product marketing manager James Salmon....
