Every great journey has a beginning and Dungeons & Dragons is no exception. The generally agreed-upon method for bringing new players into the game is to invite them to a one-shot. They’ll know if they enjoy the game after a four-to-six hour session. To help with this, D&D publisher Wizards of the Coast has put out a few sets that facilitate the process of a quick intro game. A brand-new in-engine trailer focussing on the Dwarfs – one of four playable races in Total War: Warhammer – has been released by SEGA. Deep beneath the World’s Edge Mountains, in the throne-room of the Dwarfen capital Karaz-A-Karak, High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer is found poring endlessly over the Dammaz Kron, the Great Book of Grudges. He dreams of vengeance for the betrayals and treacheries against his people. The trailer uses in-engine models and animations....

Elden Ring players are getting soft banned for picking up pants dropped by other players. As previously reported, players discovered a cut pair of underwear in the game. The Deathbed Smalls were meant to be part of the NPC Fia’s armour set, but are unobtainable without hacking the game. But hacks and mods cannot be used without by-passing the game’s anti-cheat system. And simply owning the pants - even if obtained by another player - is seemingly enough to trigger a soft ban....

Cockfighting is a sport where you make two roosters duel it out with each other and Far Cry 6 players can actually play it via a minigame. Risk of Rain 2 entered Early Access on Steam in late March. By May 3 it had already sold one million copies. As we reported in April, the game already has very impressive mod support, with a lot of variety and depth. If that wasn’t enough, Hopoo Games announced on Twitter that the first content update will release this week, on June 25. Scorched Acres is the name of the update, and though the Twitter post doesn’t include details, the studio did release an Early Access forecast in late April that might hint at what’s coming....

Too many indie horror games are clumsy, featuring the player getting chased by some crummy, annoying monster. When games are more focused on the old Resident Evil style of gameplay and design, I rejoice. Fobia – St Dinfna Hotel is a Brazilian game (with a Portuguese dub, I might add) that’s clearly influenced by the venerable horror series. On the topic of environmental and puzzle design, the game does a surprisingly great job at providing a satisfying experience....

New footage filmed on the show floor of E3 1999 has been posted on YouTube, and gives us one of the closest looks yet at the cut “Perfect Head” feature from N64 gem Perfect Dark. Perfect Head would have allowed players to scan a face into the game using the camera on a Game Boy, which could then be mapped onto a multiplayer character’s head. The feature was complete and functional, but was removed from the game for its release....

Petroglyph are the RTS guys, in fact, they have a habit of churning out the same formula over and over again with a slightly different take. Grey Goo was a slight exception and was a pretty decent RTS but it never really caught on for any length of time. Most recently Petroglyph has been releasing their 8-Bit series which was a less attractive looking C&C but fun nevertheless. Petroglyph are now working on their next game Forged Battalion after a few failed attempts with games such as Victory and the free to play Battle Battalions....

The new shooter Disintegration is in closed technical beta right now and will enter into an open technical beta on January 31st. But after two days of being able to play the new shooter/strategy mashup from the studio founded by one of the original creators of Halo, there are some noticeable things that need to be adjusted before launch of the final game in terms of the crew balancing in the game’s multiplayer....

Ginny & Georgia season two has a lot of ups and downs for both characters. The worlds of magic and technology will soon be fused together once more, as the Eberron campaign setting is receiving a new sourcebook for the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons. Eberron is a setting that offers more advanced technology than worlds like Faerun or Oerth, due to the fact that magic is used to power most of the modern conveniences, such as airships and trains.
