Even though this current generation of consoles still has plenty of big name titles still to be released, attention has seemingly turned to 2020 when Microsoft and Sony are expected to launch their next big projects. Details are still relatively secret regarding the PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlett consoles, though bits of new information seem to arrive every so often. This week, it was EA who provided a little more insight into the next generation....

EA Motive’s general manager talks about the new Star Wars game in development at the company. The developer has been working on the game since EA closed down Visceral Games, which had been making a Star Wars game that felt like the PlayStation Uncharted series. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz at the Montreal International Game Summit, EA Motive general manager Patrick Klaus said that the Montreal team of developers is developing two games....

The Xbox Game Pass team has announced that it has had to delay the introduction of the PC version of the EA Play service coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC into early next year. In an update post on Xbox Wire, very little reason was given for the delay, with just the statement given that “We established this partnership with Electronic Arts because they are as passionate as we are about helping people and communities discover great games, and we knew we could provide a great experience for members by working together....

In last night’s EA Play Live presentation, EA showed off next-gen graphics for Battlefield 6, Dragon Age 4, Need for Speed, and one unannounced game. Now, EA did not say that these were Battlefield 6, Dragon Age 4, or Need for Speed, but given the little soldiers, dark fantasy ruins with red crystals growing, and the cars, I’m willing to make a bet that these are the games in question. And, EA proudly stated that DICE, BioWare, and Criterion are the studios behind these impressive snippets....

Solid9 Studio and Fat Dog Games are ready to release a game that combines aspects of games like X-Come and Advance Wars. The game is called Exorder and it is expected to release for PC sometime in Q1 of 2018. In Exorder, you start by playing the title’s twelve-mission campaign, which focuses on a conflict brewing between three different nations. In Multiplayer, you will be able to choose between Ranked or Casual mode of play, with global leaderboards through two-player skirmishes included....

Flaming Fowl Studios has cancelled its Kickstarter campaign for ‘Fable themed collectible card game’ Fable Fortune after receiving private funding that will help secure the game’s “immediate future”. The project had received £58,852 of its £250,000 target at the time of its cancellation, and had just one week left to go of its 4 week campaign. But with the money provided via private funding, Flaming Fowl says it can “end our Kickstarter campaign early to focus on releasing a Closed Beta build as quickly as possible”....

The Fairy Tail RPG adaptation showed off new gameplay footage that includes a Jellal boss battle, a deeper look at the combat system, close-ups of character models, and the environments of Magnolia (via Nintendo Everything). Every single spell in the game has been detailed in the new footage. Fairy Tail’s combat encounters take place on a six-by-six grid wherein the enemies and the party members cannot move from their spots. Magical attacks have varying ranges and the trick is to try and hit as many adversaries as possible from the character’s starting position....

Last week over the holiday break, Koei Tecmo revealed that Fairy Tail would be heading to Japanese systems on March 19, 2020. A day later, the company confirmed the West won’t have to wait much longer to get its hands on the game. While the European launch will be simultaneous with the Japanese one, US gamers will be able to play Fairy Tail one day later on March 20, 2020....
