Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics are free from the Epic Games Store. The old-school isometric role-playing games are collectively available now for free until 4pm UK time tomorrow as part of Epic’s Christmas giveaway promotion. The trio replace yesterday’s giveaway, Lego Builder’s Journey. At 4pm tomorrow, the Fallouts will themselves be replaced by another game, officially unannounced but rumoured to be tactical sci-fi RPG Encased. Interplay’s Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics are classics of their genre, and predate Bethesda’s take on the series which kicked off with Fallout 3 and the move to first-person....

Bethesda’s Fallout 76 continues to remain a controversial topic within the Fallout community, even more so after the company introduced Fallout 1st, a premium subscription service for the game that locks the ability to create private worlds behind a pay wall. And as if the $13 a month or $100 a year price wasn’t outrageous enough for fans to complain about, the features that subscribers of the service received weren’t even working properly....

Bethesda has slapped a new release window on Fallout 76’s previously announced The Pitt expansion, confirming the Fallout-3-inspired update will arrive some time this September. Fallout 76’s The Pitt expansion was annouced for a 2022 release last June, and its arrival date was narrowed down a little further, specifically to this “autumn”, as part of February’s 2022 roadmap. Last night’s Xbox showcase, though, saw it inching even closer to receiving a proper release date, with its new gameplay trailer heralding a September launch....

Luckily, there are plenty of unique weapons present in Fallout: New Vegas to make killing the toughest of Deathclaws a little bit easier. Unique weapons are variants of weapons that have special properties, which can take the form of better damage stats or properties never before seen. It seems as though Far Cry 6 will break from a few traditions of the series, one of those being that it’ll be the first mainline title since the second NOT to feature a map editor or Arcade mode. FIFA 19 was announced at EA Play this year at E3, and a large focus was put on the Champions League — a license that EA picked up recently. FIFA 20 continued one of the most successful gaming sports franchises, but despite the commercial achievements of the game, there have been issues. The online gameplay received praise but its financial elements and the campaign mode in the game has been heavily criticized by fans. In an odd twist professional FIFA player, Giuseppe Guastella, has encountered an issue that is not only the result of a serious bug but has also left Guastella out of the North American online qualifiers for the FUT Champions Cup....

Among the series’ many entries, Final Fantasy 7 has endured the longest in players’ memories. In fact, this entry has remained so beloved over the decades that developer Square Enix announced that they would be revisiting the game with the aptly named Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and fans are already comparing the two versions of the game. However, recent reports indicate that the game might be losing its widespread appeal....

Final Fantasy 7 Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase has indicated that future chapters of the remake will stick fairly close to the original game. “I’ve talked about this extensively with [co-director Tetsuya] Nomura, but I’m sure fans of the original are expecting to revisit familiar locations and scenes, so we have strong feelings to not stray away from that,” said Kitase in an interview for an upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake Ultimania book (translated here)....

Luminous Productions has kicked off an all-new behind-the-scenes series for its upcoming action-PRG, Forspoken. The first of a three-part series, “Magic Parkour” focuses on protagonist Frey Holland and - predictably enough - her “magic-enhanced parkour” and traversal skills. We also get to see “the variety of spells at her disposal giving players a taste of what to expect when the game launches”. Koei Tecmo has released a trailer giving us our first look at what we can expect from Dynasty Warriors 9, which is coming to PlayStation 4 in Japan. North American and European formats are yet to be confirmed, let alone anything resembling a release date. Dynasty Warriors 9 is said to include all the characters from the eighth entry, with some new characters popping up for good measure. Koei Tecmo says ‘Players will be able to fully utilize their surroundings for the first time in the Warriors franchise with the ability to climb buildings and mountains, wield grappling hooks to traverse walls, and make use of objects like oil barrels in battle....

Along with a massive discount and recent teases, Ubisoft fully revealed its plans going forward with The Division 2. As expected, the game is getting a number of overhauls based on community feedback including making the UI easier to use, especially when working with gear. The game is also moving to a seasonal content structure, following in the footsteps of plenty of other games like Destiny 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and more....

Netflix has confirmed that it’s moving ahead with a second season of DOTA 2 anime DOTA: Dragon’s Blood. The news was confirmed by the MOBA game’s official Twitter account, with the second season dubbed ‘Book II’ and is currently “in the works.” There’s not much more information than that to go on, but it’s understandable as the first season only launched as recently as last month—if this news is anything to go by, it seems it was recieved very well indeed....

Valve is making a major change to how they update DOTA 2 and are moving away from the large updates players have come to expect to smaller updates every two weeks. The news comes via Twitter post from Icefrog which doesn’t explain why these changes are being made now but it could be to allow players to adjust to changes quicker. Previously, when a major patch drops there’s a lot to take onboard at once....

The fans of retro beat ’em ups will soon have an abundance of games to play, as Arc System Works has announced Double Dragon & Kunio-Kun Retro Bundle Brawler for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, including games that have never been released outside of Japan before. Double Dragon is one of the most famous beat ’em up franchises of all time, and it codified the genre of walking around city streets and beating up thugs....
