Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition is one of the best games on the Nintendo Switch. The world of Erdrea offers hundreds of hours of content, an engaging story, a wonderful cast of characters, and a combat system that can be customized to your liking. The developers have been hard at work over the past year adding new features to the game, truly making this the definitive version of Dragon Quest XI....

Fans of Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender series are all painfully aware that none of its adaptations, be they film or video game, have done the series justice. However, the up-and-coming fan-made creation called Avatar [Aang Project] currently being built using the Dreams game creation system might change that, among many other fan-recreation projects going on in Dreams. The Avatar series has suffered through plenty of adaptations, including a universally reviled movie and some old PS2 games that just didn’t capture the magic of the show....

One of the exciting parts about Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is crafting a character for each campaign. Some players are looking to optimize their character to be the best they can be, whether they are a battle-busting wizard, a cunning Kenku, or a masterful social engineer. But one of the most annoying parts about D&D is when your character, which you’ve spent literal hours perfecting, gets annihilated in the first tavern fight....

Life is hard in any post apocalyptic world, and it’s even harder when there are mutant bandits poisoning the water hole. Unfortunately, Woody’s not around to do something about it, but this is RAGE – problems get solved by a man with a gun. While there have been a load of games covered this year at E3 2011, one not to forget is id Software’s latest, RAGE. Powered by id tech 5, RAGE does look phenomenal, but cosmetics aren’t the most important part of a first person shooter....

Microsoft has debunked rumours suggesting that a current-gen remaster of earlier Gears of War titles is in development for Xbox One, before teasing an E3 reveal for “other exciting Gears projects”. “I love the passion, but there’s no Marcus Fenix Collection,” Black Tusk studio manager Rod Fergusson confirmed on Twitter. “We ARE working on other exciting Gears projects. I’ll see you at E3!” Rumours of a Gears of War Collection re-emerged yesterday after Xbox head Phil Spencer allegedly told a fan that he “can’t announce” whether the title was in development, before telling them to “stay tuned”....

EA’s digital subscription service EA Access has arrived on PC. Named ‘Origin Access’, the service grants subscribers unlimited access to a range of PC games, including Battlefield 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition and The Sims 3, plus time-limited trials of upcoming EA titles ahead of their release, including next month’s Unravel. Subscribers also get a 10% discount on purchases made through Origin, offering money off of EA’s games and DLC. 15 full games are available at launch with more set to be added over time, including select indie titles....

The PlayStation State of Play is finished! In case you missed it, here’s everything announced during the broadcast, including all the trailers (if you were hoping for a look at God of War Ragnarök, perhaps unsurprisingly it didn’t make the cut). State of Play kicked off with the announcement of one of the worst kept secrets in all video games: the Resident Evil 4 remake. Alongside a new trailer, below, that showed the game running on a PlayStation 5, we got a release date: 24th March 2023....

Compile Heart revealed more characters and songs that will be included in its JRPG Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord. We get to see Evefleed, Sui, Rinne, Lenne, OK, Harler, Bahas, Gald, Marisa, Effole, Karin, Shalman, & Ryushin. Two more songs have been revealed: the first, performed by Fleur, is “Hiken no Kioku” which translates as “Memory of the Secret Key.” The second, performed by the rival diva Glace, is “Kyou Hi Sengetsu” which translates as “Crescent Moon....

FIFA 17’s opening month sales were 13% higher than last year’s FIFA 16, EA has revealed. According to the publisher, the game’s new story mode ‘The Journey’ “helped bring 20% more players into FIFA 17 in the first week over last year’s game”, with almost two-thirds of players said to have given it a go. Ultimate Team revenue has also increased by 23% year-on-year, although the game’s total unit sales have yet to be announced....

As PC players, it’s always in question whether or not highly anticipated console games will land on our platform of choice. At the top of my head, no two ports were more sought after more than Death Stranding and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Well, we knew that the former would make its way along eventually. But what about the latter? While there have been rumors that Final Fantasy VII Remake could find its way off the PlayStation 4, the bigger question was when....

Square Enix is preparing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its venerable MMORPG Final Fantasy XI with new merchandise. The game was originally released in Japan on May 16, 2002, for PS2, with the PC version coming in November of the same year. It was released in North America and Europe respectively in 2003 and 2004, but the server did not segregate Japanese and western players, creating a rather unique (and pretty awesome) community....

Final Fantasy XIV patch 5.3, Reflections in Crystal, has launched today. This patch brings an end to the Shadowbringers storyline. From here on out, patches will be building towards the next expansion. That’s not the only thing in this patch, of course. It also contains the second part of the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse raid, the next part of the Weapon questline, a new beast tribe, and a massive revamp to the A Realm Reborn content, while the free trial now includes the entirety of the first expansion, Heavensward....

It’s an odd world we live in. Lady Gaga is tweeting about Bayonetta, Kayne compares everything to Akira, and Jack Black has a gaming channel on YouTube. The tenaciously hilarious, musically-inclined comedian surprised everyone a few weeks back by announcing that he was starting his very own gaming channel, called Jablinski. Now, we’ve received our first peek into what exactly that means for the man behind Brutal Legend. Jack Black’s debut video is out, and it’s all about pinball....

Everywhere is being touted as an open world game that’ll feature seamless cooperative multiplayer. It’s being developed by Build A Rocket Boy, a studio founded in 2017 by former president of Rockstar North and lead producer on the Grand Theft Auto series Leslie Benzies until his departure in early 2016. Work on Everywhere began in 2017 with three ex Rockstar North employees—Benzies, Matthew Smith and Colin Entwistle, with the studio team expanding over the years to more than 400 people across Edinburgh and Budapest as of November 2020....

Dishonored 2 looks to keep pace with the impressive voice cast of the first title – which included Lena Headey, Susan Sarandon and John Slattery – with news that the game’s primary characters will be voiced by stars from Game of Thrones, Daredevil, The Wire and more. Three films in, writer and director S. Craig Zahler has established himself as a thoroughly unique filmmaking voice: his movies to date, which include Bone Tomahawk, Brawl in Cell Block 99, and now Dragged Across Concrete, are a blend of the lurid and the langorous, a pulp fiction sensibility and eye combined with a thoughtful, novelistic approach toward character and motivation. The latter film is certainly his most epic in scope and as violent as his previous two, yet at the same time his most leisurely paced....
