Final Fantasy 14 is hoping that a cute poster will persuade players to “voluntarily return” any mistaken housing lottery deposits. In a broader update about the 6.2 patch, the Final Fantasy 14 development team finally confirmed plans “to address a recent issue with the housing lottery system”. “An NPC by which players may voluntarily return the deposit they were accidentally refunded has been added,” the update states, above an image of three cute apology posters starring Namazu and Lalafell....

While Square Enix says that they currently do not expect Final Fantasy 7 Remake to be delayed due to the coronavirus, they do want fans to know that it might be a little difficult to find physical copies of the game. “Due to the extraordinary circumstances the world is facing with the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to update you on how this will impact the forthcoming release of Final Fantasy VII Remake,” Square Enix says via a tweet....

Final Fantasy XV is finally winging its way to the PC on March 6, and those of you who purchase the game on the Microsoft store will be able to engage in multiplayer shenanigans with Xbox One owners. A store listing for the JRPG confirms that the game will indeed support cross-play with Xbox One players, although it’s only available in this version of the game; the Steam edition won’t include the feature, but does add a dedicated workshop for mods....

Former PlayStation Worldwide Studios chairman Shawn Layden has joined Chinese publisher Tencent Games as a strategic advisor. Layden announced the news via his LinkedIn account, as spotted by Gematsu. Square Enix Japan has shared a new prologue video, showing Dragon Quest XI’s protagonist as a child. Setting up the game’s story, we in the trailer we see the hero’s troubled start in life, with it being comparable to the story of Moses from the bible. The prologue trailer starts by following a ghostly creature wandering through a city on a sunny day, invisible to the eyes of the citizens. The see-through creature looks up to the castle and sees storm clouds gathering overhead, before the weather quickly changes to a downpour, which is pretty ominous to be honest....

Despite speculation that Electronic Arts would shut down game studio BioWare after back-to-back flops Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, Kotaku’s Jason Schreier recently published an article claiming the beloved studio is alive and kicking. A virtual reality version of Fallout 4 is heading to HTC Vive in 2017, Bethesda has announced. Alongside that, Bethesda is currently demoing a VR version of DOOM at E3. It isn’t yet clear when that game is due to launch. “The promise of VR will take our worlds to amazing new places,” said Bethesda on Twitter. “We can’t wait to share it with you #BE3 #Fallout4VR” More to follow…
