As we get closer to the end of the year, the annual FIFA release hype is beginning. EA has kicked off their PR with a new FIFA 16 trailer which gives us a taste of what’s coming in this year’s FIFA release. For the first time EA will be including women’s national teams which should open the game up to a whole new audience. EA are adding the top twelve ranked international women’s teams and they say they’ve gone to great lengths to capture the player’s movements for authenticity....

Square Enix just made the download of Final Fantasy XIV update 6.1 “Newfound Adventure” available to players. The patch will download automatically when you launch the game, and on PC it weighs approximately 5.129 gigabytes. It’s a pretty big download, so you may want to start early while you wait for the servers to go back up at 3:00 am PDT, 6:00 am EDT, 11:00 am BST, or noon CEST, depending on where you live....

During San Diego Comic Con, Netflix showed off a two minute trailer teasing the upcoming TV series based on The Witcher. The events of the series are said to be taken from the books rather than the games, but I’m sure most of you will still be positively giddy after watching the video below, even if your only exposure to Gerry is in the CD Projekt Red games. The Witcher’s showrunner, Lauren Hissrich, recently chatted to Entertainment Weekly about how the Netflix series will be a ‘very adult show....

id Software’s ridiculously bloody shooter Doom Eternal is coming to Nintendo Switch, publisher Bethesda has announced. The Switch version wasn’t announced alongside the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One versions at E3, although it’s probably not surprising to see it come to Ninty’s console. After all, the original Doom did make its way to the hybrid platform, albeit over a year after previous versions. What isn’t known at this point is if the Switch version of Doom Eternal will launch alongside the other versions of the game, although we’re certainly hopeful this will be the case....

Multiplayer shooter Evolve has sold-in approximately 2.5 million units, Take Two Interactive has announced. According to the publisher, the title performed above expectations and is still considered a key long-term franchise for 2K. 20 percent of sales are said to have been delivered digitally. The amount of copies figures sold through to consumers, however, has not been revealed, with the 2.5m figure only accounting for copies shipped into retailers and sold through digital platforms....

Facebook has announced it will be temporarily suspending global sales of its Oculus Quest 2 VR headset to address an issue that saw users reporting skin irritation while wearing the device. In an open letter to the Oculus community, the company said it received reports of a “very small percentage” of users experienced skin irritation using the removable foam facial interface included with the headset. Back in December when the reports first surfaced, the company said it would investigate....
