Movie tie-in games have the unfortunate reputation of being low budget products from unknown studios rushed out to meet the release of an upcoming movie. In Crossroads’ case, it may not share the title of Fast 9, but it certainly was developed to support the upcoming film, given they’re both scheduled for release in May 2020....

Director Scott Derrickson, who helmed the first Doctor Strange movie for Marvel Studios back in 2016, is exiting the Disney-owned studio’s sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The latest leak for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot comes as a short gameplay clip of Majin Vegeta fighting against Fat Buu. In the clip, mid-fight, Majin Vegeta transforms from Super Saiyan into Super Saiyan 2 – as revealed by the UI menu that shows what transformations the player’s controlled character can perform. While it’s not surprising that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will allow players to perform in-game transformations, for Majin Vegeta to be able to do it is interesting....

It’s risky to try rebooting a game that people still love and play. It’s even riskier when the game in question has been out for nearly a decade and has a lot of content and you end up putting a $30 price tag on that reboot. Dungeon Defenders: Awakened from Chromatic Games certainly does both of those things, but it’s hard not to be at least somewhat charmed by the game as a whole....

Sony has announced its plans to bring eight Yakuza titles to its new look PlayStation Plus service this year. These will be Yakuza 0, 3, 4, 5, 6, Kiwami, Kiwami 2 and Like a Dragon. These games will all be available to Premium users, while Extra subscribers will be able to get thier hands on Yakuzas 0, 6, Kiwami and Kiwami 2 on their release. If there’s one thing I can easily state after six-ish hours of Elden Ring hands-on preview time on PC, it’s that the game is very definitely a ‘Soulsborne’ game. In fact, I can go one step further: it’s pretty much a Dark Souls game. Shields are useful. Combat is… well, not ponderous, but weightier than Sekiro or Bloodborne. Poise, staggering, and item weight are things of huge importance. In a lot of ways, Elden Ring feels like Dark Souls 4 with the names swapped out....

Fortnite creator Epic Games has announced it’ll publish two new games from indie studios Eyes Out and Spry Fox. As per the announcement, the first of these studios—Eyes Out—is founded by Cory Davies, who was the designer and director of Spec Ops: The Line. Joining him is Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck. Their game doesn’t have a name yet, but will be a “multiplatform cosmic horror game” that uses the Unreal Engine....

Dying Light proved to be one of the best games of 2015. It basically did what Dead Island was trying to do, offering an interesting open world filled with zombies and some brutal melee combat. It contained a ton of unique gameplay mechanics, including the broken weapons system, the day-night cycle (where zombies grew more hostile in the dark), and of course the parkour mechanic that allowed you to quickly traverse the city at will....

They say more money equals more problems, and the troubles which Mediatonic faced during the launch week of Fall Guys is testament to that. The servers weren’t nearly ready for the droves of eager players that logged on to play the multiplayer party game.
