The fact that Robert Downey Jr.’s new family movie is called Dolittle implies the “Doctor” is out. Perhaps then it is hoped we will mistake this as a new kind of origin story for the man who spent the last decade as Iron Man? Then again, Eddie Murphy’s 1998 take on the source material tackled that journey of becoming. Instead Downey’s healer-turned-hermit is just another malcontent who’s abandoned his title and its responsibilities, at least with regard to humans, and must spend this movie learning to reaccept his place in the world with the help of his animal family....

The last installment of BioWare’s fantasy RPG series Dragon Age was a pretty amazing game, winning Game of the Year awards when it was released in 2014. It was a beautiful game with a great party, and had largely only one major flaw: most of its side quests were not as engaging as those seen in previous entries. The game had far too many fetch quests which didn’t respect the player’s time, even resulting in memes like “Leave the Hinterlands....

Bandai Namco US’s official Twitter account has just posted some new screenshots from the upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. They feature Super Saiyan 3 Goku, his hair as long as ever, in combat with Kid Buu, the final form of the villain of Dragon Ball Z’s fourth major saga. Of course, any Dragon Ball Z fan knows that Goku’s Super Saiyan 3 form was one of many new forms and transformations that ultimately failed to defeat Majin Buu....

While traversing through the world of Dreamlight Valley and completing quests, players are required to collect many materials and ingredients for the characters in order to progress in the game. These materials are either used for crafting, building or to gain rewards. One such material is Sand and although it is easily and abundantly found, you may find it tedious and boring to shovel it out conventionally. DriveClub’s level cap will be raised to level 55 next week as part of the game’s latest 1.15 update and continue to increase each month after, Evolution has revealed. Each new level will offer players a new reward, although quite what’s on offer isn’t yet clear. Player XP is currently capped at level 50. As well as the increased level cap, Game Update 1.15 also introduces new menu images that will update with screenshots shared by other players, an option to toggle off the HUD without pausing, additional statistics and further improvements to performance....

Techland has announced a new free content drop for expansion Dying Light: Hellraid, adding new weapons and an entirely-new story mode to the spin-off. In case you’re not up to speed, Dying Light: Hellraid is a kind-of amalgamation of Dying Light and “on hold” medieval-themed fantasy slasher Hellraid and is accessed in an arcade cabinet in the Tower hub in Dying Light, and was announced and surprise-released last year. The new story mode tasks players of the game-within-the-game to rescue a powerful mage from captivity over the course of three new quests, all playable in co-op and featuring new locations, enemies and two new weapons in the form of the Corrupted Justice bow and the Bonecruncher Hammer....

Electronic Arts executives will not be receiving their expected raises this year, because shareholders voted against its compensation plans (via Ars Technica). They chose to do this following pressure from activist investor groups which rallied against the “deeply flawed” original plan. Resultantly, almost 70 per cent of Electronic Arts’ voting shares were not in favour of the payments which would have been doled out to executives. The plan apparently would have seen CEO Andrew Wilson receive a proposed $21....

FromSoftware’s latest RPG, Elden Ring, has received a hot critical reception since its launch last week, with special praise lauded on its compelling open-world sandbox called The Lands Between, and the lore that binds it together. While the developer has a storied history of creating such locations for its iconic Souls franchise, this time around it employed the expertise of fantasy author George R.R Martin, the creator of A Song of Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones), and today Martin has celebrated Elden Ring’s success in his latest blog post....

Let Me Solo Her, Elden Ring’s most famous player, is now available as a summon in a new mod. Let Me Solo Her rose to fame recently helping players defeat Malenia, one of the game’s trickiest bosses. Online, players can summon others to assist in their own game. Let Me Solo Her regularly left a summon sign outside the Malenia boss fight to aid players struggling with the battle - a testament to goodwill in the Elden Ring community....

Publisher Curve Digital has announced that multiplayer firefighting game Embr will be heading to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch this summer. The game (which originally released in Early Access on PC and Google Stadia last year) sees you going solo or teaming up with other players as Embr Responders, fighting fires and more across a variety of locations that include a range of madcap and wacky challenges that you’ll have to contend with on top of the fire itself, including smashing windows, scaling buildings, demolishing structures, delivering food, cleaning up gas leaks and more....

Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 2 has arrived, and Epic Games has started the new season with an array of new content. Included is new mechanics, the return of donation boards to contribute towards the war effort, and so much more. One of the core mechanics in Fortnite that makes it stand out in the battle royale genre is building. Using your materials can allow you to gain height advantage and protect you from enemy fire....

The Steam vs Epic Game Store debate continues to trundle along and Tim Sweeney has hit Twitter again with an interesting claim. One of the biggest gripes from consumers about the Epic Games Store is the exclusives that have popped up since it launched such as Metro Exodus. In Sweeney’s latest Twitter thread he’s claimed that Epic could drop exclusives but only if Valve commit to a 88% revenue share for all developers....

At the E3 2019 Bethesda Showcase, a big update for Fallout 76, entitled Wastelanders, was announced, and it will add NPCs and questlines to the game. The expansion centres on ‘year two’ of Fallout 76’s story, and features a new game mode, called Nuclear Winter. This is a Battle Royale mode, which makes a lot of sense, given the genre’s ubiquity at the moment.
