A notorious hacker who’s been slaughtering and softbanning players in Elden Ring has said he’s a “necessary evil”. Malcolm Reynolds has already caused issues in Dark Souls 3 and Dark Souls Remastered, and now he’s at it again in Elden Ring. Not only does he invade a player’s game and kill them through powerful spells (a totally legitimate game mechanic), his spells are hacked to imbue their inventory with an invalid item that results in a softban by FromSoftware....

Serial studio swallower Embracer Group has announced its latest round of acquisitions, including Star Trek Online developer Cryptic Studios. The company has picked up four companies, which include Perfect World Entertainment. They’re the publisher and parent company for a number of studios, including MMO specialists Cryptic. In addition to Star Trek Online, the studio is also behind Neverwinter, Champions Online and the recently cancelled Magic: Legends. Along with Cryptic, Embracer also gets the publishing portfolio of the rest of Perfect World Entertainment....

A music video has been released for the theme song of Final Fantasy VII Remake to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the release of the original game and it has revealed a lot of new content, as well as some surprising changes to the story. With several spacious overworlds to explore and a bunch of little easter eggs and goodies to uncover, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot basically begs players to stray from the beaten path and just indulge in the Dragon World. But the story doesn’t. Dragon Ball Z is actually quite fast-paced, and leaves little time for breathing room. Toriyama likes moving from beat to beat asap. That doesn’t exactly lend itself well to a game like Kakarot, so it’s easy to feel “rushed” in the sense of just following the story....
