Publishing behemoth Electronic Arts has announced it is donating $1 million to the families affected by the Jacksonville, Florida shooting on Sunday afternoon. The tragedy unfolded during the qualifying session of a Madden NFL 19 tournament, where two participants, Elijah Clayton and Taylor Robertson, were gunned down by David Katz, who was also competing in the gaming event. EA has also established the Jacksonville Tribute Fund, which allows people to donate directly to the victims and families affected by the incident, Clayton and Robertson’s families included....

Publisher Electronic Arts have announced that it will be rebranding its FIFA series as of next year. It is replacing the existing EA Sports FIFA name with EA Sports FC. This change will mark the first installment in the popular football simulation series to not use the FIFA branding since its debut in 1993. The game itself will effectively just be another FIFA game in all but name. The series’ core game modes like Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and Volta will all still be present....

EA’s PGA Tour video game is now titled EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA Tour and will launch in June, the publisher has announced. McIlroy, a four-time Major champion and top-ranked golfer, is also named as the official cover athlete of the game. “I’m very proud and humbled to see my face and name on EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR,” said McIlroy. “This is a great honour, and something I couldn’t even dream of growing up playing the sport....

Konami has announced it’s delaying its intended ‘1.0.0’ update for troubled football offering eFootball 2022. The company had originally scheduled the update for November. Instead, the update will now arrive no earlier than Spring 2022. Furthermore, the company has declared it will cancel the eFootball 2022 Premium Player Pack. Konami will automatically refund anyone who has already purchased the pack. Specifically, the pack offered players a bunch of premium tier items and currency that would only become usable after the intended update....

Next week Scavenger Studios will release the next update for their battle royale title Darwin Project and it will include a few additions/fixes. Square Enix is launching a campaign to entice lapsed players back to Final Fantasy 14. The campaign will run from 7th September to 30th September and asks players to invite back any friends who have been inactive for at least 90 days. In return, players will receive gold chocobo feathers they can exchange for special rewards. Dragon Age: Inquisition’s single-player campaign has been expanded with a new Jaws of Hakkon DLC, available now on Xbox One and PC for £11.99. E3 will return as an in-person event next year in June, with three days given over to industry attendees and two days for the general public. The LA-based show will open its doors for the first time since 2019 at its usual home of the Los Angeles Convention Centre, following mixed success as an online event in the interim.
