EA has apologised after it transpired that it inadvertently named one of its new Elite skins for shooter Battlefield V for a German solider after a real life anti-fascist resistance solider in WW2. The Wilhem Franke skin went on sale last week in the Battlefield store as one of their ‘Elite’ units, and was promoted by EA as an Axis solider who is ‘A ruthless combatant, his straight-forward manner commands respect from his squadmates, even if they have to maintain a safe distance....

A few days ago, we reported on the tragic shooting in Jacksonville that occurred during a Madden NFL 19 Classic tournament. The shooting left three dead — including the gunman who took his own life — and multiple participants that were injured. The two innocent people killed in the tragedy were Taylor “Spotmeplzzz” Robertson (left) and Elijah “Trueboy” Clayton (right). With the gaming world mourning their loss, EA has taken steps to ensure that victims will be taken care of....

Fans from the era of Nintendo’s first home console, the Nintendo Entertainment System, might be surprised to learn that the box art for two of its most well-known games had very different designs early on before they were officially released. A flyer from an old CES (Consumer Electronics Show) trade show revealed that both The Legend of Zelda and Punch-Out!! for the NES had early versions of box art that resembled the black box designs used for the console’s sports series of games, such as Volleyball and Pro Wrestling....

Today D3 Publisher showcased more gameplay of its upcoming action game Earth Defense Force 6. The gameplay was as usual presented directly by producer Nobuyuki Okajima and played on the PS5 version of the game. Specifically, we see two different segments both featuring battles against supreme beings among the alien forces, named “Evil God Kruul” and a newly-revealed “Evil God Kraken.” They’re extremely powerful and have both offensive and defensive capabilities....

Evil Genius 2 is essentially the opposite of whatever James Bond-themed game is brewing over at IO Interactive. Instead of playing as a suave spy, players are hurled into the shoes of a mastermind criminal bent on taking over the world, and therefore have to manage their massive secret base to achieve that goal. When it launches, Evil Genius 2 will feature four different masterminds, each with their own campaigns, but today’s reveal focused on its burliest: Red Ivan — and he’s voiced by the legendary English actor and singer, Brian Blessed....

Today THQ Nordic and Logic Artists released another trailer of their upcoming turn-based tactical RPG Expeditions: Rome. The new trailer focuses on introducing one of the playable characters of the game, the centurion aeso Quinctius Aquilinus. You can check it out below. Fallout 76 keeps on trucking along despite the game’s rocky launch, which was recently addressed by Todd Howard. We’re well past that stage now though, as several updates have delivered new questlines, actual NPCs, and more. The next of those updates titled Locked and Loaded, looks to bring new options for player camps, loadouts, and more. In what comes as a complete and utter surprise, Electronic Arts has announced that FIFA 18 will be released on September 29, 2017. Cue sigh of relief. Also noteworthy, the cover star has been revealed as none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. The quite well-known Portuguese superstar has been winning seemingly everything over the past year. After winning the Champions League (for the fourth time) at the weekend, becoming the latest FIFA cover star can now be added to his accolades....

With The Game Awards 2019 scheduled for this evening, several game companies are now taking the opportunity to build up a little more hype before the event with teases about what may be shown. However, Square Enix is taking a more direct route, as the publisher announced on Twitter today that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be shown at The Game Awards 2019 with a brand new trailer. Red XIII was one of the most memorable characters in Final Fantasy VII, yet the limited nature of the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake means that he won’t have much of a role in the story. The footage of Final Fantasy VII Remake that has been released so far has shown off four of the playable characters - Cloud, Aerith, Barret, and Tifa. Final Fantasy VII Remake only covers the Midgar section of the story, so Yuffie, Vincent, and Cid likely won’t be making a playable appearance in the game....
