The dust is beginning to settle on an exhilarating Group Stage and Round of 16, and the tournament has certainly not disappointed. Every good role-playing game worth its salt has at least one memorable boss fight, and Final Fantasy series installments are no exception. But while the Japanese RPG franchise is known for its high-end graphics, forward-thinking battle systems, and charismatic Big Bads, the boss fights in each game have run the gamut from pushover to impossible. Unfortunately, many of Final Fantasy’s final bosses fall on the weak end of the spectrum. That’s frustrating in and of itself, simply because these are the baddies we’ve been drawn into hating throughout the course of the game....
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is Square Enix’s retelling of the 1997 classic RPG. The remake was initially announced by the studio several years ago, and after a long period of silence about its development, Square Enix confirmed that the remake will release on March 3, 2020. As of the moment, the game remains as a PlayStation 4 exclusive after Square Enix revealed that it has no current plans to bring the game elsewhere....
Square Enix has revealed a bunch of new Final Fantasy VII Remake figures that are going to be released as part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII. We start with a new figure portraying Cloud from the Statics Arts brand, which means that it’s not an action figure and it’s sculpted in a static pose. It’s priced at 19,580 yen which translates roughly into $145 and it’ll be released on July 29, 2023....

Final Fantasy VII Remake is the first part of a series that is retelling the story of the original game. Lately, there’s been rumors circulating about a possible revival for everyone’s favorite atmospheric, nightmare-inducing horror franchise, Silent Hill. Ever since Silent Hills was canceled and Konami kicked Hideo Kojima to the curb the series has been put on hold with no signs of life. Well, except for this: At this point, fans are a tad skeptical about whether or not Konami is capable of making a good Silent Hill game. After all, the last two games they put out that weren’t soccer-related were Metal Gear Survive and Contra: Rogue Corps, two titles that are generally considered to be low points in their respective franchises....

Nexon and Arc System Works released a new trailer revealing a new character that will be included in their upcoming fighting game DNF Duel. The character is the Enchantress, described as She who inflicts endless agony upon her victims with curses and voodooism” and “the capricious witch.” You can take a look at what the Enchantress looks like and how she fights below. Michael Pickwoad’s first Doctor Who story was A Christmas Carol, a story that asked its Production Designer to help realise a faux-Dickensian city, flying sharks, and Matt Smith sweeping the special chimney. Doctor Who had moved to high definition at the start of the previous series, coinciding with a new production team of Steven Moffat, Piers Wenger and Beth Willis. After longstanding Production Designer Edward Thomas moved on, Pickwoad took over the role until Moffat left as showrunner in 2017....
Those waiting on news of the Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro anime’s second season are in luck as there’s finally a pretty specific release window. The second season (fittingly called 2nd Attack) of Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro will premiere in January 2023. If you’ve been missing Nagatoro’s bullying antics you don’t have long to wait until they return. While we did know the release date already, one of the other big bits of fun from this announcement is that new cast members will be joining with the new season as well as new key art to celebrate being this much closer to the premiere....
Doom’s own take on King of the Hill, Warpath Mode, has been detailed over on the Bethesda Blog, explaining how its takes the classic capture point gameplay and adds a twist with a demon power-up. “This is DOOM’s take on king of the hill – the difference being that the capture-point moves in a circle around the map (along a clearly marked path),” explains the blog. “Meanwhile, a game-changing demon rune moves in lockstep on the opposite side of the path....
It’s no secret that people behave badly on the internet. Due to the competitive nature of the game, Dota 2 suffers from a particularly bad case of toxic gamers. Valve has decided that enough is enough and it is now trying to rein in these offenders. So, with the latest Dota 2 update, the MOBA receives an Overwatch system designed to regulate negative behavior. I say Valve is doing something about the toxic behavior, but really it’s a partnership with players that will allow the system to work....

Techland has released a small video update letting fans know what’s going on with the development of the long awaited Dying Light 2, promising to release the game this year. Physical copies of Dying Light will arrive in Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East on February 27, 2015, Techland has confirmed. The revised release date follows news of the boxed version’s delay this weekend. The North and South American release has not been affected, with physical copies still due to arrive next Tuesday, January 27. The digital release, however, has also seen a slight setback in Europe on PS4 and Xbox One....
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is looking to take what people liked from Final Fantasy XIII and give them more of it. During our eyes-on demonstration it was clear Square Enix wanted to right the wrongs from Final Fantasy XIII. Final Fantasy XIII-2 brings Serah back from XIII and introduces a new character, Noel Kreiss into the mix. Fans of Lightning, however, will be glad to know she will be playable some, too – at least during the earlier parts of the game....

Microsoft announced at E3 2011 that Kinect owners will finally be able to expand their simple voice commands to a whole new level, enabling users to search with their voice and eschewing controllers. The technology is made available by integrating Microsoft’s Bing search engine into Xbox 360, which will enable users to search Netflix, Hulu Plus, ESPN, Xbox LIVE Marketplace, and media libraries simultaneously with the just sound of their voice....
Who doesn’t love a good escape room? A timer ticking down, tricky puzzles to solve, items to juggle; I dig ’em all. Setting things in a school is a bit of a different approach that’s ripe for fun tropes, too. Escape Academy is a fairly short yet well-made collection of escape rooms that does a great job of scratching this particular itch. The environments are interesting, the themes are varied, the gameplay and UI aren’t overly complex, and the plot moves at a steady pace....
