Starting with Bloodborne, each time FromSoftware has put out a new action-RPG, it always raises the question: is this a good one for newcomers to jump in? The developer’s latest and arguably greatest release to date, Elden Ring, is out this week, and it’s time to revisit that question. Is Elden Ring a good entry point? The answer is… a little complicated. I’m tempted to say yes, if only because FromSoft has taken steps to ensure that players have more options open to them when exploring the Lands Between....

Not dissimilar to something like the Pharros Lockstone in Dark Souls 2, each consumable key can be used once - so learning where to find Stonesword Key locations, and the best places to use them, is worth knowing, especially as they often lead to valuable treasures. Remember - Stonesword Keys are precious resources, so use them wisely!...

Weapon Arts are abilities which your weapons in Elden Ring can hold and, through them, you can become a more dangerous force in the Lands Between. You can, however, replace a Weapon Art with an Ash of War ability through the use of the Whetstone Knife. Assigning the right Ash of War ability to the right weapon could be the change you need to take down a boss, so don’t forget about them!...

Last year, Epic opened up the Epic Games Store in the wake of its tremendous success with Fortnite. At first, it was just another gaming client and it didn’t cause a lot of waves. But then they began snatching up exclusives left and right, which became a point of consternation for some gamers. Tech industry analysis group predicts an increased focus on streaming and subscription services by gaming platform holders in 2020. In their “2020 Technology Predictions” report released earlier this month, tech investment analysis group G.P. Bulldog sees a tumultuous year on the horizon for the games industry. The main cause of the disruption will be a shift in the way games are bought, or licensed, more accurately. Based on a survey by Reuters and customer data released by Electronic Arts (EA), the Bulldog report identifies the adoption of games subscription services as a key trend....

It’s well into October now, the world is quickly getting darker and spookier, and it seems that Fallout 76 is getting in on the action. Coming off the heels of the recent Project Clean Appalachia event, Bethesda has planned a brand new Halloween event to keep players engaged. Players will have a week of average Fallout 76 gameplay after the Project Clean Appalachia event ends on October 23rd, before the Mischief Night Seasonal Event begins on October 29th....

Final Fantasy IV, also known as FFXIV is a massively multiplayer online RPG that can be played in PvE and PvP modes. While players improve their character, they gain better statistics by collecting EXP in the game. Additionally, the main battle gameplay does feature a combination of physical attacks, weapon skills, and magical attacks. And although the game mechanism rivals other MMORPGs, the effects are said to be straining for some players....

FIFA fans are hoping that player switching is improved in this year’s game. There has a been growing frustration with last year’s FIFA 22 over an alleged ‘delay’ when you try to switch players – which can more often than not have pretty serious consequences during a match. This allegedly affects both standard ‘quick’ L1 /LB switching and right stick switching – which tends to be favoured by more experienced players....

The playable cast of Final Fantasy 7 Remake all bring their own unique fighting styles to the table. Veterans of XCOM and Civilization developer Firaxis Games have announced the formation of Bit Reactor, a new Maryland-based studio that intends to focus its efforts on creating turn-based tactics games with “high-end production values”. A new battle royale is coming out this year. Dogfighter: World War 2 is an aerial battle royale that will be released in Fall 2019 on PlayStation 4. Fallout 4 dog companion Dogmeat can’t be killed, Bethesda Game Studios game director Todd Howard has confirmed. Since Dogmeat was revealed fans have been seeking information on the dog.
