The Call of Duty League is entering its third weekend of play, with the Atlanta FaZe playing host after two successful weekends in Minnesota and London. Teams have already started rising to the top while others have stumbled early and players have begun carving out their legacy within the new franchised, location-based league. With a plethora of talented individuals ready to take the stage in Atlanta, here are some names you should keep an eye on.
Adam “GodRx” Brown (Minnesota RØKKR)
GodRX is an animal. There is no doubt about that. He spearheads a strong Minnesota team that thrives on great team play with some of the best chemistry in the league. The RØKKR have only played twice so far this season, taking a break from London after hosting the opening weekend. GodRX was a driving force behind the teams two victories and should continue to play at a high level while helping keep Minnesota in top-tier discussion.
Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson (Chicago Hunstmen)
Arcitys is a great player for the Chicago Huntsmen in a team full of legendary stars and rising youngsters. Matthew “FormaL” Piper and Seth “Scump” Abner obviously get most of the attention but Arcitys has been slaying teams throughout the entirety of the Huntsmen’s 6-0 record. If Chicago can keep up with Atlanta, Arcitys will be a big part of that.
Preston “Prestinni” Sanderson (Florida Mutineers)
Prestinni tends to fly under the radar when talking about top-tier players in the Call of Duty League. His play in the opening weekend suggests otherwise as he clutched it out during the Search and Destroy against the Seattle Surge. The Mutineers have only played two matches and both went down to the wire before splitting them 1-1. There are a lot of question marks about Florida’s potential this early in the season, but Prestinni isn’t one of them.
Matthew “KiSMET” Tinsley (Paris Legion)
KiSMET looks really good to start out the season for the Paris Legion. On top of that, even Paris as a whole squad looks pretty good. Not many predicted that to kick off the new league, but they have proven everyone wrong up to this point. It remains to be seen if they can truly compete at the top with teams like Chicago and Atlanta (though they did take Chicago to an incredibly close five-map series in London), but if KiSMET continues to play like he has, they just might cement themselves in the discussion.
Chris “Simp” Lehr (Atlanta FaZe)
Simp is arguably the best player in the world right now despite being only two matches into the new league. He is the reigning Call of Duty World League MVP and looks to be the front-runner this season. Simp leads an incredibly talented Atlanta FaZe team that should be considered the best team in the league. They’re also the home team this weekend. With the crowd on their side and the team coming off a extended break after not playing in London, Simp and the gang will be ready to pop-off and it’s going to be a blast to watch.
Call of Duty League’s Atlanta weekend will get started on February 22nd at 7:00 a.m. PST / 10:00 a.m. EST. You can catch all the action exclusively on YouTube.
