The first ever PS4 Anniversary Edition console sold for a whopping £86,000 at a charity auction in Japan.
The console launched in December sporting a PSOne-style grey paint job, with only 12,300 units ever produced.
Model ‘00001/12300’ sold at an auction held by Sony Corp. with a winning bid of 15.135 million yen (which equates to roughly £85423.12). “We appreciate all who participated in the auction and are surprised at the highest bid price, which was higher than our expectations,” a Sony representative told the Wall Street Journal.
The proceeds from the bid would go to Save The Children Japan, plus Sony confirmed it would submit a matching sum to the charity.
