There is an abundance of rumors circulating on the internet about what a Resident Evil 8 might entail. Perhaps the most bizarre rumor suggests that the game will be in a medieval setting with armored zombies and swords. We know that the game is in development, but what’s the plot? Armored zombies and swords sound bizarre, but let’s not rule out the zombies and werewolves rumor. It wouldn’t be the first time the game featured vicious canines.
Whether you like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard or not, it made leaps in the horror video game genre. Should the game go back to its roots with a more action-oriented focus? Or should it delve deeper into the horror genre? This is everything we want to see in Resident Evil 8.
10 The Return Of Leon S. Kennedy
Resident Evil 6 was the boldest and most ambitious project that didn’t pay off. It incorporated many of the series most favorited characters and mashed them into one game. In this way, players were less able to connect with the protagonist since they were only given pieces of the story.
The games that featured Leon S. Kennedy as the main protagonist were successes. Excluding the Resident Evil 2 remake, it’s been a while since we’ve seen the intelligent, amiable protagonist Leon S. Kennedy star in a game.
9 Laser Sight
Although at face value, laser sight aiming is a subtle detail that couldn’t possibly make or break a game, it could have bigger implications than you believe. On the contrary, it is the small nuances of video games that make them enjoyable in the first place.
Laser sighting is a type of weapon targeting that makes it easier to hit opponents. In an arcade game like Resident Evil Survivor 2 – Code: Veronica, having laser sighting is invaluable. The same holds for current Resident Evil games. We need to see laser sighting once again in Resident Evil 8!
8 More Memorable Villains
The boss fights of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard may not be its strong suit, but it did have memorable characters that added to the enjoyability of the game. With that said, Capcom is going to have to dig deep and look to the past for inspiration with their newest villains.
The series’ most memorable villains, such as Mr. X, Nemesis, Albert Wesker, and Ramon Salazar, made their games of appearance. Resident Evil 8 could be placed among the greats if they create momentous villains once again.
7 A Good Blend Of Horror And Action
Games like Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, which are more action-oriented, are the most fun games of the bunch. Of course, the games shouldn’t be as action-oriented as Resident Evil 6. Many fans deemed Resident Evil 6 to be an utter failure because of its over-the-top focus on action.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is survival horror, whereas Resident Evil 6 is more of an action-adventure game. For the series to succeed, it needs to go back to its roots with a smart blend of action and survival horror. Resident Evil 4 is a masterpiece for this reason.
6 Please, Give Us Light!
The Resident Evil series has always contained darkness, but the amount seen in recent games is questionable. In Resident Evil 6, players may need to max their brightness settings to make the game playable.
The same issue exists in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which has an unusual amount of darkness. Perhaps the game should be brighter so players can see the enemies in front. Could you provide us with a flashlight or something? Please, give us light!
5 More Story Collectables (Videotapes)
The way Resident Evil 7: Biohazard began was possibly more exciting than any other Resident Evil game. There was a ton of mystery surrounding the house where Mia Winters went missing.
After finding a videotape, the player enters the television and plays a part in the story. This differs from the Blair Witch game, where players could manipulate events. The game could use more story collectibles in the form of videotapes. Optional or not, videotapes could improve Resident Evil 8.
4 More Ammo!
Let the bullets fly! The video games series could be better off when the player has an abundance of ammunition. Games like Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, but not Resident Evil 6 seemed to work well with a surplus of ammunition. Ammunition is vital to progression in Resident Evil, given the difficulty of enemies.
The direction that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard took concerning ammunition made the game difficult for many players. Of course, the game shouldn’t give the player too much ammunitions since it would take away from the scavenging and survival part of the game.
3 Improved Stealth Elements
The Resident Evil series requires stealth in moments to avoid wasting ammunition and other resources. Sometimes, avoiding enemies is a better strategy than confronting them head-on. This change might not be as radically as different as many think.
If Capcom looks towards game series like The Last of Us, they will be taking a step in the right direction. The Last of Us is also a survival horror game with zombie elements. There’s no way to dance around it; Resident Evil has a stealth component. Capcom needs to build on its stealth component to the betterment of the game.
2 VR Compatability
According to Mark Cerny in a Wired interview, “the current PSVR headset is compatible with the new console.” Although Xbox has yet to jump on the VR bandwagon, it isn’t out of the question.
Resident Evil fans are going wild over the VR compatibility of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. It was a daring move by Capcom to integrate VR capability for a Resident Evil game, but it worked out. It goes without saying that people want to see more refined VR gameplay on Resident Evil 8.
1 A Game That Appeals To Our Emotions
The Greek philosopher Aristotle was on the right track when he proposed the “modes for persuasion” model that comprises ethos, logos, and pathos. The last of which, emotion, is frequently seen in video games and appeals to players.
Pathos is something that appears in the best of the Resident Evil entries. Resident Evil 4’s damsel in distress theme is another timeless story element that makes the game intriguing. By appealing to our pathos, Resident Evil 8 is destined for greatness.
