Hidden Power (also known as Awakening Power) is a Normal-Type damage-dealing move that appeared in Generation II. In Pokemon Go it is a Fast Attack type, being introduced on February 16, 2017. Its actual type is based on the Pokemon so it can vary based on Pokedex entry.
When two players catch the exact same instance of a Pokemon with Hidden Power, the type can differ between them. When the Pokemon evolves, the ability type is re-rolled automatically. Fast TM cannot be used to change Hidden Power. When fighting in Team Go Rocket Battle or Raid Battle, the ability transforms into fighting type.
Out of all the Pokemon in the game, 14 can learn Hidden Power. They are presented below.
13 Starmie
Starmie was part of the original Pokemon in the game. It is a psychic, water-type coming from Kanto. Its evolution comes from Staryu and is described as having a core that brightly glows in 7 colors. Because of its appearance, Starmie is also known as “the gem of the sea”. The maximum CP for a wild Starmie captured is 2,215, with 2,400 the absolute maximum as influenced by weather.
12 Porygon
Another Pokemon hailing from the Kanto region, the normal-type Porygon can evolve into Porygon2 and then Porygon-Z. This Pokemon is known for reverting itself to program data and can enter cyberspace. Nobody can duplicate it and when caught in the wild, its maximum CP is 1,597, with weather boost.
Porygon is also one of the original Pokemon in the game.
11 Togepi
Togepi is a baby Fairy-type Pokemon coming from Johto. It can evolve into Togetic, with the final evolution being Togekiss. This is a Pokemon that is said to use positive emotions coming from both Pokemon and people. Feelings of happiness are stored inside the shell to then be shared.
Besides Hidden Power, Togepi can also learn Peck and Zen Headbutt as fast attacks. Its charged attacks are Ancient Power, Dazzling Gleam and Psyshock.
10 Togetic
This Johto-based flying, fairy-Pokemon is an evolution of Togepi. It first appeared in the game on December 12, 2016. When captured in the wild, its maximum CP is 1,586, with weather boost. However, when it was originally a tier 4 Raid Boss, the maximum capture CP was lower. Togetic can also learn Extrasensory, Steel Wing and Zen Headbutt as fast attacks. The charged attacks are Aerial Ace, Ancient Power and Dazzling Gleam.
9 Unown
Unown comes from the Johto region and is Psychic-type. It cannot evolve into another form and is not an evolution. At the moment, Unown stands out as the rarest possible Pokemon in the entire Pokemon Go game, a perfect one for introverts.
The design of Unown is particularly interesting as it is shaped as writing. Players see it as a prized possession, mainly because of the fact that the Pokemon often spawns in areas that are very hard to reach. 28 different Unown forms exist in Pokemon Go.
8 Porygon2
The Johto-based normal-type Porygon2 evolves from Porygon and can become Porygon-Z with the Sinnoh Stone and 100 candies. The Pokedex shows that the Pokemon was created with science by humans and that Porygon2 has artificial intelligence.
Porygon2’s fast attacks are Charge Beam, Lock-On and Hidden Power. The charged Attacks are Hyper Beam, Solar Beam and Zap Cannon.
7 Ho-Oh
This legendary flying, Fire-type Pokemon also comes from Johto. Together with Lugia, it forms Tower Duo and does not have an evolution. You can instantly notice the Pokemon’s feathers as they glow based on viewing and light angles.
Ho-Oh was formally a Tier 5 Raid Boss and a reward for several Pokemon Go events. A special, shiny Ho-Oh form was released as Raid Boss in 2018, on May 19.
6 Luxray
Luxray comes from Sinnoh and is of the Electric-type. It is an evolution of Luxio and the final possible evolution of Shinx. It is said that this Pokemon can see through objects, so it is a really good scout.
Luxray’s other fast attacks besides Hidden Power are Snarl and Spark. The Pokemon is not very versatile but it can be effective in combat. Its charge attacks are Crunch, Hyper Beam and Wild Charge. A shiny version of Luxray appeared in 2018, on October 16.
5 Shellos
Shellos comes from Sinnoh and is a Water-type Pokemon. Whenever it senses danger, there is a purple liquid that oozes right out of it. Besides Hidden Power, Shellos can use Mud-Slap and the charged attacks used are Body Slam, Mud Bomb and Water Pulse.
This Pokemon was officially released on May 17, 2019. The maximum CP of a wild Shellos is 1,054, with weather boost.
4 Gastrodon
Gastrodon is a region-exclusive, ground and water-type Pokemon from Sinnoh. It is an evolution from Shellos, with color and shape that can change, based on diet and environment. Usually, Gastrodon is caught in beach areas.
The Pokemon’s fast attacks are Hidden Power and Mud-Slap. Its charged attacks are Body Slam, Earth Power and Water Pulse. Originally, Gastrodon should have learned Earthquake but this was eventually removed.
3 Togekiss
The flying, fairy-type Pokemon Togekiss comes from Sinnoh and evolves from Togetic, being Togepi’s final evolution. Its fast attacks are Air Slash, Charm and Hidden Power. Its possible charged attacks are Aerial Ace, Ancient Power, Flamethrower and Dazzling Gleam.
The Pokemon was released on November 14, 2018, together with a shiny form version.
2 Porygon-Z
This normal-type Pokemon comes from Sinnoh and is an evolution from Porygon2, which is Porygon’s final evolution. It is considered to be a failed experiment because a faulty update ended up being added to the original programming.
Porygon-Z can use Lock-On, Hidden Power and Charge Beam as fast attacks. Its charged attacks are Zap Cannon, Solar Beam, Hyper Beam and Blizzard.
1 Regigigas
The last Pokemon in Pokemon Go that can learn Hidden Power, together with Zen Headbutt as a fast attack is Regigigas, a legendary, normal-type Pokemon. It appeared in the game in 2019, on November 2. In the same year, on November 18, Mewtwo was replaced by Regigigas in the Ex Raid Battles. It stands out as a Tier 5 Raid Boss. However, when captured, its maximum CP is 3,104 with weather bonus in Bonus Challenge.
