If you’re a completionist, then you’re going to need to prepare countless hours exploring the vast terrain presented in The Witcher 3 and all its glorious DLCs. One of the many tasks you’ll need to undertake is tracking down every single monster nest in the game.

There are more than 30, so it’ll take you a while but this handy guide should give you an idea of where to find each one as well as the monsters you’ll need to defeat. Make sure you learn how to make at least one or two types of bombs, either Grapeshot, Dancing Star, or Samum, before you begin.

14 Deserter Territory

In White Orchard, head to the ravaged lands near Cackler Bridge, which was aptly named after a woman that mad for love. There are two nests to burn in this area. You’ll find one close to the bridge and near a Quen Place of Power. The other is close to the Crossroads sign. Both nests are Ghouls.

There is only one Ghouls nest to burn here. This is the area you’ll need to go when you kill the Griffin. The nest is near an Aard Place of Power toward the northwest.

13 Crow’s Perch

Once you reach the vast lands of Velen, you’ll find the largest amount of monster nests in the game, by far.

We’ll start with Crow’s Perch. In the southeast area, a single Ghouls nest dwells near the Burned Ruins and Cockatrice Lair dungeon.

12 Mudplough

Mudplough will present you with your first Rotfiend nest, and a Devourer. They can be quite nasty. The nest is on the northeast island, there are two good chests there, as well.

11 Grayrocks

There are two nests in the northern area of Grayrocks, one is located on its own island near Hindhold. You’ll find Harpies and an Erynia there. The other is a Rotfiend nest found in the southern point of the northern area.

The southeast area of Grayrocks is crawling with monsters nests, all of them are Ghouls and Alghouls except one stray Nekker Warrior nest. The Nekker nest is located by Codgers’ Quarry. All of the other nests are in the surrounding area of Ferry Station, there is a total of five over there.

10 The Descent

Tread carefully in the eastern part of The Descent, that’s where you’ll find two Wyvern nests, each one also contains a Royal Wyvern. They’re both near The Grotto.

Also in the eastern area are four Nekker nests, two also contain Nekker Warriors. Three are surrounding the village of Toderas and another one sits near the small village of Benek, which touts a large windmill.

9 The Mire

The Mire is a nasty and swampy area you’ll be attending to with Keira Metz if you take her up on her offer. Surprisingly, Fyke Isle doesn’t have any nests but the northernmost area of The Mire does have one. It’s a Ghoul and Alghoul nest by the Boatmakers’ Hut.

In the southern part of The Mire, near Olena’s Grove, you’ll find a Drowner nest, also watched out for the Drowned Dead – an extra-strong version of a Drowner.

8 Crookback Bog

In the west area of Crookback Bog, you’ll find a Drowner nest near the place where you meet the orphans of Crookback Bog. There will also be a Drowned Dead there.

7 Grassy Knoll

Now we’ve migrated into Novigrad. You won’t find any monster nests in the main city area but once you get into the outskirts, there are a few. In the center of the Grassy Knoll, there is a Rotfiend nest, with a nasty Devourer waiting for you. The nest is near Drahim Castle.

Then once you get close to Ursten, you’ll encounter your first two Endrega Warrior nests. They will also contain Endrega Workers and can be a pain due to their high defense so make sure you have good armor.

6 Kaer Trolde

In Skellige, there aren’t that many monsters nests around, surprisingly. The first ones you’ll find are on Kaer Trolde, in the southern area. There, you’ll discover two monsters nests located close to the Crossroads.

One is a Drowner and Drowned Dead nest and the other is full of Sirens and Ekhidna. You’ll want to use her crossbow for that nest to shoot the Sirens out of the skies and the Ekhidna can also be a little troublesome.

5 Ofrithrdarl

In the southern part of Ofrithrdarl, you’ll discover a Harpy nest. The nest is on the outskirts of the village of Fyresdal. You’ll recognize Fyresdal since it’s the town supposedly being hunted by a fierce dragon (there’s a contract for that, by the way).

The nest is near the Thieves Camp’ and Old Fort, which is a good place to raid, too. But watch out for the many Sirens and Ekhidnas in the area.

4 Fyresdal

Speaking of Fyresdal, once you’re in the region, you will find yet another nest full of Sirens and Ekhidna.

This particular nest will be found by the Ruined Inn – a place that used to be known for serving an impeccable roast leg of lamb. There is a lot of good stuff nestled in that area.

3 Rannvaig

If you continue on to Rannvaig, you’ll find another Drowner nest, this time instead of a Drowned Dead, you’ll also have to face off against Mucknixers, which are basically a hyper-evolved version of both Drowners and Drowned Dead – fun stuff.

Rannvaig is an entertaining place. Supposedly all the fishermen there care about is beating the record of an older fisherman who nabbed a record-sized halibut. The nest is near an abandoned site and a merchant.

2 An Skellig

Once you reach An Skellig, look out for the Bay of Winds, a Harpy nest is pretty close to the signpost, right near the shore.

1 Toussaint

We get a few more monster nests added to the game in the Blood and Wine DLC with the addition of a new map. There is a nest of Draconids located near Basane Farm. Then you’ll find a nest of Kikimores by Dun Tynne Castle, although you’ll have to take out a monster den first.

Keep an eye out for Count de la Croix’s Mill where you’ll see a nest full of Archespores. Travel to the southern area of the region near Mère-Lachaiselongue Cemetary. Continue down even farther south and you’ll see the signpost for Francollarts, there are two monster nests fairly close to each other nearby, both guarded by Giant Centipedes.

Finally, to the west, there is a lone monster nest guarded by Harpies. It’s almost on top of the Rioux-Cannes Outpost.
