Pokémon Go’s Community Day events are very popular. The first one was in January 2018 and in 2019, there were 12 such events that allowed trainers to play together while visiting local community parks.

Community Day is a monthly event in which you can capture special Pokémon with exclusive moves. At the same time, other bonuses might be available. On the whole, this event allows you to get something rare in Pokémon Go and interact with other players at the same time.

While we do not know much about what Pokémon will be available in 2020 (except those already finished) and players eagerly wait for Niantic’s decisions, let’s take a look at all the Community Days of 2019. Similar choices are expected in 2020 for available bonuses and new things might appear since the Pokémon Universe is always unpredictable.

12 January 12 – Totodile

The first Community Day of 2019 was on January 12 and had Totodile as its Special Pokémon. It featured 3-hour Lures and 1/4 Egg distance. At the same time, shiny Totodile forms were launched, together with evolutions. Players also had access to Feraligatr with Hydro Cannon as a Special Move.

Besides the Pokémon modifications available during the event, egg hatching was particularly useful for those participating. Just before the event, Niantic announced its limited research event with Feebas.

11 February 16 – Swinub

Swinub was the Pokémon of choice for the February 16 Community Day of 2019. The event also featured 3-hour Lures, 3 times the Catch Stardust bonus and 10 Sinnoh Stones obtainable from Leader Battles and PvP.

Swinub also featured Ancient Power as a Special Move and shiny forms were introduced.

10 March 23 – Treecko

2019’s third Community Day Event in 2019 saw Niantic featuring Treecko and some new shiny forms for it. Besides this, 3-hour Lures and 1/4 Hatch Distance were activated. An Exclusive Move was added for Sceptile, Frenzy Plant. All shiny forms of Treecko became available during the event.

Besides the addition of Treecko related content, Niantic also changed Community Day event time to 3:00 to 6:00 local time.

9 April 13 – Bagon

With Bagon being the special Pokémon for this Community Day event, players received access to 3 new shiny versions, a brand new Exclusive move, 3 times catch experience and the possibility of receiving 3-hour Lures.

Trainers were particularly happy with the choice of Bagon because this Pokémon is difficult to find in the wild. Also, its evolution is considered to be among the best attackers in Pokémon Go.

8 May 19 – Torchic

The May 19 edition of Community Day featured the Fire-Type Torchic and offered the possibility of catching new shiny Pokémon. Players also got new bonuses and learned a new Special Move, Blast Burn, for the final evolution of the Pokémon caught, Blaziken. Extra stardust was offered for every Pokémon caught.

The event lasted between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM local time. The shiny version of Torchic made its debut during this Community Event. After it was over, spawn rates were reduced to be on-par with the other shiny Pokémon versions.

7 June 8 – Slakoth

Slakoth and all its shiny forms were available for trainers to catch on June 8. Besides this, a new Special Move was introduced, together with brand new bonuses.

The event took place between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Up until the event, Slakoth was found in Eggs with a 10 kilometers walking distance. During the event, this was changed to 2.5 kilometers. All other eggs hatched faster.

6 July 21 – Mudkip

New shiny Pokémon were added on July 21, together with new bonuses and the addition of Mudkip as special capture during the event. In addition, Hydro Cannon was made available for the final evolution of Mudkip, Swampert. At that point in time, only Feraligatr and Blastoise could learn Hydro Cannon.

As an extra interesting thing, right before the July 21 event, trainers were able to capture a special Pikachu that was wearing a straw hat. This was due to a cross-over event that was happening. The hat is the same one wearing by Luffy in One Piece.

5 August 3 – Ralts

Those that participated in the August 3 Pokémon Go Community Day event got the opportunity to catch the Psychic Fairy-Type Ralts as the Special Pokémon. Besides it, all its shiny forms were possible, together with some extra bonuses.

Ralts was initially introduced with Generation 3.

4 September 15 – Turtwig

The Grass-Type Turtwig was the Special Pokémon of choice for the Community Day event that happened on September 15. Besides it, other cool rewards were added, including the expected shiny forms.

Trainers had a higher chance of capturing the Pokémon in the wild and those that were really lucky got to evolve what they caught into Torterra with Frenzy Plant as a Special Move. Extra stardust was offered whenever catching Pokémon.

3 October 12 – Trapinch

The October 12 edition of 2019’s Community Day event lasted between 11 AM and 2 PM, local time. During these hours, players had the opportunity of catching a Trapinch. There were also 3-hour Lures and 3 times Catch XP bonuses available.

Trainers that have been playing the game for a long time were happy with the addition of Trapinch because the Pokémon was rare at that point in time. Evolving it was very difficult. If Trapinch was caught during the event and evolved to Flygon, the special move Earth Power was available.

2 November 16 – Chimchar

The Fire-Type Chimchar was introduced as the special Pokémon for this Community Day. Between 11 Am and 2 PM, local time, trainers were offered increased Chimchar spawn rates, together with new bonuses and brand new shiny forms.

Those that managed to evolve Chimchar to Monferno during the Community Day event and then to Infernape ended up with a Pokémon that knows Blast Burn as a Special Attack.

1 December 14-16 – All 2019 Community Day Pokémon

Bonuses were activated between 11 AM and 2 PM on December 14 and December 15, marking the last Community Day event of 2019. During these hours, trainers enjoyed many holiday bonuses, with the special one being boosted spawns for all the Pokémon that were featured as specials during the year’s Community Day Events.

In addition, eggs with the same Pokémon were available.
