The first Luigi’s Mansion was stuffed full of enemies for players to take on. From regular ghosts that would harass Luigi in the hallways, to strong portrait ghosts that would test your patience. With over 30 enemies, it’s hard to keep track of everything going on in the game. If you’re looking to do a run-through of the entire series, then our list below can help you out.

We have collected information on all the enemies you will have to fight while exploring the mansion and organized them in alphabetical order below. We even made sure to include the optional portrait ghosts that you need to 100% the game.

31 Biff Atlas

Biff Atlas is the bodybuilder ghost who can be found in the mansions rec room. Biff will ignore Luigi for his workout unless you use your vacuum to hit him with a punching bag. Once you’ve gotten his attention, he will proceed to try and punch Luigi. To beat Biff, you have to hit him with the punching bags three times in a row before his heart will appear.

30 Bowling Ghost

Bowling Ghosts are often found lurking in hallways where their attacks will be most useful. The ghost will hurl a ball at Luigi that will cause him to trip. The Bowling Ghosts are often placed near other enemies to give the player a higher chance of being hit. These ghosts are also one of the weakest in the game and can be sucked into the vacuum immediately.

29 Ceiling Surprise

Ceiling Surprise ghosts are as annoying as they sound. These ghosts spring down from the ceiling to scare Luigi. When caught by a Ceiling Surprise, the player will be temporarily unable to move. If you can stun them with the light, though, they can be sucked into the vacuum immediately.

28 Chauncey

Chauncey is a baby who pulls Luigi into his crib for playtime after he’s found in the Nursery. To awaken Chauncey and begin the boss battle, simply use the vacuum to move the rocking horse.

Afterward, you will be pulled into the arena where Chauncey will make balls and horses fly into Luigi during the battle. To win simply catch the ball with a vacuum three times in a row and hit Chauncey.

27 Clockwork Soldiers

The Clockwork Soldiers are a trio of portrait ghosts that must be defeated to access the roof of the mansion. You will have to get the three clocks going in order to wake this enemy up. The Clockwork Soldiers will shoot projectiles at you; you will need to suck each individual soldier up to defeat the boss.

26 Elemental Ghost

Fire and Ice Elemental Ghosts, unlike water elementals, are aggressive. If you encounter a large elemental, then they can deal 2o HP of damage each time Luigi runs into them.

25 Ghost Guy

Ghost Guys will either float behind Luigi, attempting to stab him with a pitchfork or be found dancing in a circle. If you choose to capture one of the dancing shy guys, then you will aggro the other one causing it to follow you around while attacking.

24 Gold Ghost

Gold Ghosts are the first enemy you will encounter in the game. These enemies have a basic punch attack that is easy to avoid. To defeat them, you simply stun them with your flashlight before vacuuming them up.

Gold Ghosts only have 10 HP, making them easy to defeat quickly.

23 Grabbing Ghost

Grabbing Ghosts come in a variety of colors and get stronger throughout the game. These ghosts can pop out of seemingly nowhere, especially in the mirror room.

You will have to look for signs of grabbers like strange puffs of dust to keep Luigi from being squeezed to death.

22 Henry and Orville

Henry and Orville are found upon a revisit to the mansion’s second floor. Upon entering their room and messing with a helicopter, they will want to play hide-and-seek with Luigi. This plan fails, and they accuse you of cheating leading to a battle where they use a toy car and plain to attack. Orville can drop bombs from his plain, and you will have to capture both twins to win the battle.

21 Jarvis

Jarvis is literally a ghost that lives in a jar; he can be found in the mansion’s ceramics studio. He is an optional ghost that challenges Luigi to a game of ghostly whack-a-mole. You will need to have the Ice Elemental upgrade and hit Jarvis with ice seven times in a row. Once you break the jars he’s hiding in; he will begin to attack by throwing pots at Luigi.

20 King Boo

King Boo is the mastermind behind the whole mansion and the one responsible for capturing Mario. Luigi will be able to fight King Boo on the roof of the mansion, where he pilots a mecha, Bowser. The Bowser will throw spiked balls at you that you can suck up and eject to knock King Boo Outside of the body. At this point, you can suck up King Boo while avoiding ice projectiles from a floating Bowser head.

19 Lydia

Lydia isn’t an aggressive ghost and ignores Luigi when he enters the master bedroom. She will continue to brush her hair at the mirror until you open the room’s curtains. She will then try to close them back, allowing you to stun her and suck her into your vacuum.

18 Madame Clairvoya

Madame Clairvoya is more of a friend than an enemy, but still must be returned to her portrait. Once Luigi brings her three items, she will lock the doors of the room and ask that he returns her to her portrait.

17 Melody Pianissima

Melody Pianissima is a ghost who appears in the Conservatory. To find him, you have to make all the instruments in the room play; she will then challenge you to a quiz. If you answer the name of the musical piece correctly, she will engage Luigi in a battle. Simply suck up the musical sheets she fires at you to get her off the piano and expose her heart.

16 Miss Petunia

Miss Petunia can be found taking a shower in the mansion’s bathroom. Luigi must pull back the curtain and dodge her shot of hot water. To expose Miss Petunia’s heart, you need the ice upgrade to interrupt her hot shower and make her vulnerable.

15 Mr. Luggs

Mr. Luggs is another optional ghost who can be found eternally scarfing down food in the dining room. He can be agitated if Luigi sucks up all his food and the surrounding waiters. In battle, he shoots fifteen rounds of fireballs before becoming tired out and vulnerable to being captured.

14 Nana

Nana can be found knitting in Nana’s room, where she can be provoked by moving her yarn balls. Afterward, Nana will scoot around in her rocking chair, shooting needles out of her eyes. To beat her, hit her with yarn balls to make her vulnerable.

13 Neville

Neville is the very first portrait ghost in the game. He can be found in the study and provoked by hitting him with your flashlight while he is stretching. His only attack is throwing a single book at Luigi that can be easily dodged.

12 Purple Puncher

Purple Puncher will try to punch Luigi with either of their fists. They deal 10 Hp worth of damage with each hit and can be stunned with the flashlight. The ghost possesses 20 HP making it quick to defeat.
