Has the holiday season got you lusting for blood? Are you tired of your family correcting your every little move? Do you just want to see Jesus take down the world? Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is the game for you and it just so happens to be free today! It’s a Christmas miracle!
The next in Epic’s lineup for 12 free games for the holiday season, TABS is now up for grabs on the Epic Games Store. Providing hours and hours of user-generated fun, TABS is worth grabbing if only for its absurd premise. This is a joke game in the vein of Goat Simulator where nothing works correctly and glitches are par for the course. You’re not meant to experience an actual battle, but wild dream scenarios where the fragility of your PC could ruin things.
As with the past titles, you’ll have one day to grab TABS. It’ll be free until December 26 at 11:00 am EST/8:00 am PST, at which point the next title in Epic’s freebie fest will be available. From the looks of things, Subset Games’ FTL will be available tomorrow.
At this point, I’m convinced my theories for what Epic will offer are bunk. I’ve been wrong multiple times and apart from guessing some games correctly, I clearly have no idea what Epic has in store. It’s likely that the “12 games” promise was for 12 entirely new games with a few repeats thrown in. That would explain yesterday’s giveaway of Celeste, a repeat offender from Epic.
Even with repeats, though, this has been a really solid holiday incentive. Valve is just running another basic Steam sale with discounts that feel kind of stingy. One shouldn’t expect games to be 90% off for the holidays, but the average savings on even 10-year-old games doesn’t seem worth it.
Meanwhile, Epic is giving you a $10 coupon for every $14.99 purchase, not to mention a free game each day. It’s hard to beat that, especially since you can combine the coupon with steep savings to get some games for free. Talk about having the better deal!
I’m still holding out hope that Control ends up free.
