Update: EB Games has clarified that Street Fighter V: Champion Edition will not be coming to the Nintendo Switch (via IGN).

It’s possible that the Nintendo Switch will be receiving another Street Fighter game, as a deleted tweet from EB Games Canada claimed that Street Fighter V: Champion Edition is coming to the Nintendo Switch in the future.

Street Fighter V was initially released for PC and PlayStation 4 in a state that can charitably be referred to as bare-bones. The game has since received numerous updates and enhanced editions that have fleshed out the roster and added new costumes, modes, and stages. The next version of the game will be Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, which will give every character a second V-Skill and will include almost all of the content released for the game so far.

It’s possible that Street Fighter V: Champion Edition will be coming to the Nintendo Switch in the future. The EB Games Canada Twitter account has a now-deleted post (which has been archived by Siliconera) claiming that Street Fighter V: Champion Edition is coming to the Switch.

The tweet has now been deleted and the account is now claiming that there was a mix-up and that the post was meant to be promoting the upcoming PlayStation 4 version of the game. The fans in the comments section are expressing their disbelief at this statement, as this isn’t the first time that the Twitter page has jumped the gun and announced something early, as a similar incident happened with Sonic Forces a few years ago.

The Nintendo Switch already has several retro Street Fighter compilations, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Street Fighter V: Champion Edition coming to the system. The Switch also already has several modern fighting games, including Mortal Kombat XI, with Samurai Shodown on the way, so it’s not as if the system couldn’t handle the game. It remains to be seen whether the tweet was the result of an accident, but there is a strong possibility that Street Fighter V: Champion Edition is coming to the Switch, which raises the question of when it will officially be announced.
