In a financial report released today by EA, details emerged about release windows for several upcoming games, as well as some interesting facts and finds. EA reported that 19 of their games in 2009 had a Metacritic average of over 80, which is very respectable. Another impressive note was that FIFA 10 sold over 9.7 million units worldwide over all platforms.

So, let’s break down the interesting games of their newly released fiscal 2011 schedule by quarter, shall we? (Q1 will be skipped since there are no surprised here, Skate 3 and Need for Speed World being the two games of note).

Q2 (July 1 - September 31, 2010)

  • All Points Bulletin Medal of Honor (Title TBA)

Two big action games for this summer from EA. All Points Bulletin is the GTA-style MMO by Realtime Worlds, developer of the original Crackdown game for Xbox 360. The yet to be titled Medal of Honor will be a reinvention of the franchise, and will have two development teams working on it. EA Los Angeles will be doing the single-player, and EA DICE (of Battlefield fame) will be handling the multiplayer. It should be interesting to see what DICE does with a smaller-scale shooter.

Q3 (October 1 - December 31, 2010)

  • Crysis 2 Need for Speed (Title TBA) NBA Jam EA Sports MMA Sims 3 (Title TBA)

Nothing mind-blowing here, but what is interesting is that both Crysis 2 and the new Sims 3 game are headed to consoles. The Crysis 2 news is nice, because many people probably wanted to check the first game out, but lacked a PC strong enough to play it at a respectable frame-rate. Whether or not the new Sims 3 title will simply be a port is unknown. Also, which of the three consoles it will be headed to is also unknown, as the release only states whether a game is for “Consoles,” “Handhelds,” or “PC.”

Q4 (January 1 - March 31, 2011)

  • Dead Space 2 Dragon Age (Title TBA) Shooter from Epic Games (Title TBA) Need for Speed (Title TBA)

This is where things get more interesting. We now know that the sequel to Dead Space is slated for this release window, and that we have some more things to speculate on/get excited about. The new Dragon Age title could be anything from a new expansion, (a la Dragon Age: Awakening) a sequel, or a totally new game.

The shooter from Epic is what I am most interested in learning about, as I’m a big Gears of War fan. The title is most likely the game that Epic and People Can Fly (developers behind Painkiller) are working on. As you probably noticed, there are Need for Speed games for both Q3 and Q4, which I also found interesting. The Q3 release is set for consoles, handhelds and PC, whereas the Q4 release only shows consoles and PC. One of these titles should be the game that Burnout Paradise developer Criteron is working on. Also on the Q4 schedule were two untitled games that were called “Action Title TBA,” and “Fighting Title TBA.” Both are console only, and the action title is marked as a download only game. I have no clue what the action title might be, but the fighting game might be a new addition to the Fight Night franchise?

All in all, it looks like we have a lot to look forward to from EA in the future.
