The world’s of Disney characters may seem big and bright on their own, but there’s still nothing quite like an immersive Dungeons and Dragons campaign to close out a long week. And while some characters may already have magical powers, that doesn’t mean they don’t want to escape to a whole new world when they can.
9 Moana - Water Genasi Swashbuckler
Moana wasn’t really into any of the races in the Player’s Handbook but was super excited when she found out about Water Genasi. Being a Swashbuckler seemed like a good way to turn her own adventurers on their head, so she decided to go that route. She isn’t actually playing a nautical campaign, but it’s still really fun to say “arrrr”, so it works.
8 Aladdin - Half-Orc Rogue
Aladdin’s cast out mentality gave him an impeccable ability to role play as a half-orc, who also has a monkey companion. Genie has always DM’ed for him and the campaigns he gets to run are worthy of pretty much everyone’s envy. Even after becoming a prince, he still makes his character steal to eat. It’s probably just so he gets to sing.
7 Simba - Dwarf Paladin
Simba exhibited a lot of bravado growing up, and now basically just plays as Gimli from Lord of The Rings. He likes to dive right into the thick of every encounter but is also hell-bent on having his character become king of whatever campaign setting the group is running. His character got less obnoxious after hanging out with two really weird bards for a little bit, but there are still some really odd quirks that he pulls off on occasion.
6 Mulan - Half-Elf Fighter
Mulan is constantly caught between two worlds, and has the Dungeons and Dragons character to prove it. She first picked up the game with some of the other soldiers during downtime while fending off the Huns. They couldn’t carry any rulebooks or anything, though, so it was pretty much 100% homebrew. Mulan got pretty tired of explaining all the alignments to whoever she plays with, and now just has a simple fact sheet she hands out.
5 Buzz Lightyear - Halfling Ranger
Buzz Lightyear thinks he’s a lot more dangerous than he is, and his character is absolutely a reflection of that. His characters keep dying because he tries to fight dragons at level 2, and each one has been pretty much the same thing. As long as Buzz is content, the DM is fine with it, he’s just tired of having to work new characters into the campaign every other session. He did take being a ranger to heart, though, and has spent learning about all the weirdest creatures in the Monster Manual.
4 Snow White - Dwarf Aristocrat
Snow White decided to play a Dwarf to try and bond with the rest of her housemates. Everyone else in her campaign has a very distinct quirk, and for a while, it seemed like she was going to have to DM. Sleepy wound up doing it, but his worlds are mostly full of exposition with little to no actual play, so the group is quietly hoping someone else will step up.
3 Ariel - Human Druid
Ariel spent the early years of her life wanting to transform into a human but now plays as a Druid specifically to transform back into a fish. When she was still a mermaid, she found a D20 and a battle mat, but kind of just assumed that they were a nice pebble and a floor mat. She still doesn’t have everything she needs to get started with Dungeons and Dragons, but at least enough to play a campaign with her fish friends.
2 Elsa - Elf Sorcerer
Elsa has always avoided the common rabble, but as a cautionary method to not accidentally murder them, not a superiority complex. She developed a love for Dungeons and Dragons over the course of all the years she spent locked in her bedroom. She played by herself, which doesn’t make any sense on its own, but now she argues over rules she has homebrewed for years but no one else would ever use. She can make miniatures out of the air, though, so everyone plays with her now anyway.
1 Bambi - Halfling Cleric
Bambi keeps moving back and forth between Bard and Cleric. He wants to play a character that almost exclusively helps people, even though it annoys the rest of his group. He doesn’t do a lot during combat except using healing spells on everything on the battlefield, so it takes like 20 turns to bring down a couple of wolves. He’s super generous with the loot, but that really hasn’t done much to stop everyone from hating him.
Each Disney character has a different preference as far as edition goes, and there’s really no one way that they all like to play. It can get pretty chaotic for them to communicate, especially considering that some are animals, but at the end of the day, they all have an amazing time together.
