After the release of Drive in 2011 director Nicolas Winding Refn expressed an interest in working on a Wonder Woman film, but with that horse seemingly already bolted he has his eye on another heroine.
Refn has told Business Insider that he “would love to make” a superhero movie, picking out Batgirl as his hero of choice.
“God, I would love to make one, it would probably be great fun,” said Refn. “I just don’t know when it’s going to happen. I very much enjoy my freedom creatively, but I also would love to make one of those big Hollywood films that costs a lot of money and has a lot of people running around with cell phones and all that insanity.”
He continued: “What ones are left?
“You know the one I want to do? I want to make Batgirl. Let’s get Warner working on it.”
Refn isn’t known for his family friendly films, so Warner may well be somewhat hesitant.
Batgirl is rumoured to be making an appearance in a standalone Harley Quinn movie.
