The push to promote the Dragon Quest series outside of Japan is continuing, as we’ve just received news that Dragon Quest of the Stars is receiving an international release in 2020.

Dragon Quest 0f the Stars is a mobile game that was originally released in 2015. The game is a turn-based RPG that involves creating characters and going on quests. Dragon Quest Walk uses gacha elements for winning pieces of equipment, as some can be acquired through spending the premium currency in the game, which takes the form of gems.

Square Enix has created a website for the English localization of Dragon Quest of the Stars, which is due to be released in early 2020. There is an open beta planned for the Android version of Dragon Quest of the Stars that is due to run from October 30 to November 28. Players can register for it on the website for the game.

The official website for Dragon Quest of the Stars has screenshots from the English version of the game, one of which contains images of every Dragon Quest protagonist, as well as the Prince of Cannock and Princess of Moonbrooke from Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line and the children of the protagonist of Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride. It’s likely that Dragon Quest of the Stars will follow the example of the Final Fantasy mobile games and will include cameos from different characters from the Dragon Quest series.

It’s possible that the release of Dragon Quest of the Stars is paving the way for a potential localization of Dragon Quest Walk in 2020. Dragon Quest Walk is an AR game that is similar to Pokémon GO, with a focus on completing quests and searching for treasure. There is currently no word on an international release for Dragon Quest Walk, but a successful run for Dragon Quest of the Stars might lead to an official localization of the game.

Dragon Quest of the Stars is due to be released for Android and iOS devices outside of Japan in early 2020.
