Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot had an impressive debut on the PlayStation Plus Store, but it still didn’t beat out Call of Duty or GTA V.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot came out last month with some impressive figures. Sales topped 1.5 million in its first week and the game debuted at number one on the UK sales charts.

However, as exciting as the new Dragon Ball Z-based action RPG is, it still wasn’t enough to topped perennial favorite Grand Theft Auto V, or take down the newest first-person shooter from Activision. Sales of GTA V and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare were still potent enough to top the PlayStation Plus sales charts, coming in at numbers one and two, respectively. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot debuted at number three in the PS Plus sales charts, just ahead of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition, which is still enjoying a renaissance thanks to the recent release of the new Netflix series featuring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.

If you’re a fan of Dragon Ball Z, you’re likely to find a lot to love in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. The game follows the classic Dragon Ball Z story from the Saiyan Saga all the way to Majin Buu. The latest update provided a slew of bug fixes and improved load times, with dataminers finding plenty of new content likely to be released in the future.

Star Wars Battlefront II came in at fifth place, a remarkable achievement considering the sad state the game released in.

Moving on to the PS VR titles, Beat Saber, Super Hot VR, and Job Simulator were once again the top three VR titles. Beat Saber has been the best lightsaber-wielding non-Star Wars game ever since it was released in 2018, while Super Hot VR translates Super Hot’s John Wick-style action into the virtual realm. Job Simulator is a now-classic VR title that looks like it will remain a staple of VR libraries for years to come.

Fortnite is still the most popular free-to-play title, while Kingdom Hearts III Re: Mind was almost enough to dethrone a Fortnite cosmetic pack as the most downloaded DLC.
