Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is out now, and many gamers are coming to the end of the line for it. After completing the story, there’s certainly plenty to do from finishing up substories, completing DBZ: Kakarot’s secret boss fight, and gathering the Dragon Balls to fight all foes, but many are excited to see what comes to the game in form of DLC.
As it stands, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has a season pass which can be purchased individually or came in some special editions of the game, yet the exact contents of the season pass haven’t been revealed yet. This is typically a bad sign as fans don’t like not knowing what it is they’re buying. In recent memory, the Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack reveal comes to mind, as many were upset the whole roster of characters wasn’t revealed immediately. The situation here is completely different, though.
Dragon Ball Z Kakarot’s Season Pass
Before explaining why it’s the opposite, it’s worth mentioning what is currently known about the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot season pass. That’s rather simple, in fact, as it lists two original story episode DLCs and one new story arc. Breaking down what this specifically means could be a bit trickier than meets the eye, but it would seem that the new story arc would be something akin to the sagas found in game. In other words, it would be content in line with the story already found in the game. The original story episode DLCs would likely be additional substories, but it could be more extensive.
Right now, it’s also unknown whether or not this will be the only season pass for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Some speculate that there will be multiple season passes that ultimately transform it into the “ultimate DBZ game” complete with Super, GT, and extra content. However, that’s unlikely to be the case - it’s effectively a pipe dream to expect one game to have that much content, even if there are multiple season passes. That’s not to say Dragon Ball Super shouldn’t get the same treatment as Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, but that it’s not likely to happen in one game.
Dragon Ball Z Kakarot’s DLC: Broly, Super, and More, Oh My!
This is where it gets interesting. While there is only one full-blown story arc in the season pass, data mines have uncovered a lot more in terms of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC. The first data mine uncovered lines indicative of the second Broly movie (suggesting that it could be rolled into one with the first movie), and another more recent leak found playable Dragon Ball Super characters. All of this points toward the first DLC (or two) involving the original Broly movies or Battle of the Gods.
Then, there’s the possibility that something more is done with either Android 21 or Mira, as that could fill in the original content – if that’s not eaten up by something else. Arguments and rumors could also be made for a Dragon Ball GT connection through the timeline plot, and more, but ultimately, there’s a little bit of everything concerning Dragon Ball floating around the game.
And that’s why it’s exciting. It’s currently unknown exactly what the season pass will entail, but it will be building off the greater Dragon Ball Z mythos in some way, meaning there’s a ton of directions it could go. Fingers crossed that the multi-Season Pass theory sticks, so that it’s more than just one form of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
