Frieza is one of the most iconic and popular villains in the entire Dragon Ball franchise. He had a long arc that built him up as a threat to the entire universe. It took Goku and his friends just about every ounce of strength and determination to finally overcome Frieza. He was that much of a powerhouse. The character’s popularity has seen him make some returns and cameos throughout the history of Dragon Ball. He even made a comeback as one of the main characters in the Tournament of Power arc of Dragon Ball Super.

Over his life, Frieza has shown the capability to take out some powerful opponents. His resurgence in Dragon Ball Super has also shown him reach new heights of power. You’ll be surprised to hear about some of the characters Frieza has been able to overpower in the newest era of the franchise. That being said, there are bound to be a special group of warriors who are still beyond Frieza’s abilities. Dragon Ball Super has introduced many new characters that completely wreck the power scaling of the series. Extraordinarily powerful opponents showed up to fight Goku and friends during the Tournament of Power.

Frieza had a great tournament as he was part of the final four warriors remaining. The final battle had Frieza team up with Goku and Android 17 to take out Jiren. It was an awesome battle and a reflection of how far Frieza had come as a character. In this list, we’re going to take a look back at some Frieza’s accomplishments and failures in battle.

30 Stronger: God Of Destruction Toppo

Toppo was quite strong before his dramatic transformation. He put up a great fight against Vegeta in his Super Saiyan Blue form. However, that wouldn’t have been enough to fight Frieza in his golden form.

That’s where this transformation comes in.

As a God of Destruction, Toppo completely overwhelms Frieza. The poor guy stood no chance at all against such a mighty force. One of the most one-sided beatdowns of the show.

29 Weaker: Cooler

Frieza’s brother is almost as ferocious but doesn’t quite hit the mark. He does toy around with Goku, but everything changes when the latter becomes a Super Saiyan. Cooler is easily dispatched off afterwards.

Frieza managed to put up a much better fight against Super Saiyan Goku. He actually managed to get a few hits in. It was his lack of stamina that let him down ultimately. However, at his 100% strength, Frieza is stronger than Cooler.

28 Stronger: Beerus

During the Resurrection of F arc, we find out that it was Beerus who ordered Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta. Now, we know that Frieza is extremely arrogant and would take orders from no one.

Unless that someone happened to be much stronger. Strong enough to destroy Frieza in an instant if he desired to do so. The fact that Frieza still submits to Beerus is clear proof of the difference of their power levels.

27 Weaker: Super Saiyan Blue Goku/Vegeta

I know that Goku did manage to beat Frieza eventually. However, individually, Frieza was stronger than both of the Saiyans. Once again, what let Frieza down was his lack of stamina. Not the lack of power.

After only four months of intense training, Frieza managed to attain a level above Goku or Vegeta. His golden form outclassed the new Super Saiyan Blue transformations of the Saiyans. However, Frieza had bit the bullet too early and should’ve spent more time training.

26 Stronger: King Cold

For this entry, we’re using similar logic to that of Beerus. The fact that Frieza, one of the most tyrannical characters, actually obeys King Cold is very telling. Furthermore, at this point, Frieza had received a boost in power from his mecha form.

However, there is nothing conclusive to say that King Cold is stronger. If Frieza really was stronger, he would’ve usurped the position of king from his father a long time ago. And that’s just the harsh reality of Frieza.

25 Weaker: Dyspo

Dyspo was one of the stronger members of the Pride Troopers. At first, he gave Frieza a lot of trouble, especially with his light speed mode. He managed to damage Frieza a fair bit because of his unreal speed.

This advantage didn’t seem to faze Frieza all that much.

Despite being faster, Dyspo was unable to properly damage Frieza. Even with all that speed and hype, the Pride Trooper was unable to overpower the classic villain. A shame considering how well he was doing in the fight.

24 Stronger: Pikkon

Pikkon may be a filler, but what he did to Frieza was very real. Frieza and a few other old villains were causing trouble in H.F.I.L, the place where villainous people go after perishing. Pikkon was sent down to deal with the issue.

And he did it with relative ease. Goku was left stunned when he saw that Pikkon completely wrecked Frieza in his final form. It was hardly a fight as Pikkon completely crushed him without any opposition. It wasn’t a good look for the space emperor.

23 Weaker: Hit

When Hit was first introduced, he stunned everyone by defeating Vegeta and Goku. However, his power scaling let him down by the time we got to the Tournament of Power.

Frieza and Hit don’t fight, but if they did, the former would win. At this point, the fighters from Universe 7 (mainly Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza) had become much stronger. Frieza was able to fight much tougher opponents than Hit. The legendary life-taker had finally met his match.

22 Stronger: Whis

Whis is the master of Beerus and much stronger too. It’s a simple matter to see that Whis could easily beat Frieza in a fight if required. There would be no contest between the two if they do decide to battle.

Beerus and Whis act as a huge check on Frieza’s ego.

Not only that, they enhance his desire to become the best. A very Saiyan quality which is quite strange coming from Frieza. He spent years trying to exterminate them, only to become more like them.

21 Weaker: Frost

It was a surprise to see the difference in strength between Frost and Frieza. The other Saiyans, like Kale and Caulifla, were very strong. Frost, on the other hand, was easily knocked out of the Tournament of Power by Frieza.

The two actually have a nice moment of plotting together. However, the entire thing was a trick by Frieza to get Frost to lower his guard. Once the time came, defeating Frost was a simple task.

20 Stronger: Future Trunks

One of the most iconic moments of Dragon Ball Z. The battle against Frieza was a long and grueling one. It took Goku every ounce of his strength and activating his hidden powers to finally win.

In comes Future Trunks. He finishes Frieza within a matter of seconds. It sets the tone for the rest of the arc. It also shows how weak Frieza has become after the introduction of a single new transformation. A great way to kick off a new story.

19 Weaker: The Ginyu Force

These guys were supposed to be Frieza’s elite soldiers. You would’ve expected them to be a lot closer to Frieza in terms of strength. They do start off in a very impressive manner. Recoome manages to beat Gohan, Krillin, and Vegeta very quickly.

It doesn’t take long for their power to be undermined though. In fact, once Goku arrives, they all appear much weaker. Even Captain Ginyu, the leader, is nowhere near Goku’s level. Then when you see Goku struggle against Frieza, you realize just how weak the Ginyu Force was.

18 Stronger: Meta-Cooler

Frieza might have the upper hand in their base forms, but Cooler got the better upgrade. Meta-Cooler was able to fight evenly with two Super Saiyans at once. Goku and Vegeta almost perished while fighting him.

Meanwhile, even Mecha Frieza was unable to deal with a single Super Saiyan. The power Cooler gained from the Big Gete Star was unreal. Much stronger than whatever technology was used on Frieza.

17 Weaker: Piccolo

Piccolo actually looked like he would be able to defeat Frieza after fusing with Nail. He was easily beating Frieza, who had already transformed once. Sadly, this advantage didn’t last for long.

Frieza revealed his third form which not only closed the gap but made him stronger again. Piccolo’s power boost lasted only for a short while. After that, he was back to square one as Frieza took control of the fight.

16 Stronger: Mastered Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta

Vegeta, in typical Saiyan fashion, pulls out a brand new transformation from out of nowhere. This is the “mastered” form of Super Saiyan Blue, giving his hair a darker shade of blue.

After obtaining this power through sheer force of will, Vegeta proceeds to defeat Toppo. This comes after Toppo was done using Frieza as a punching bag. Frieza is lucky that Vegeta was on his side during this battle.

15 Weaker: Goku Black

Goku Black was a powerful force. He was able to overpower the Super Saiyan Blue forms of Goku and Vegeta. However, it wasn’t a convincing fight for the villain. He barely managed to come out on top.

Golden Frieza would’ve given Goku Black a lot of trouble. He’s proven to be stronger than the Super Saiyan Blue form. The only problem is Frieza’s lack of stamina. If he could solve that issue, then Goku Black would stand no chance.

14 Stronger: King Zeno

Zeno is the most powerful being in the Dragon Ball franchise. He has the power to erase an entire universe in an instant. A power he is happy to display during the Tournament of Power. Something which also happens to catch the attention of Frieza.

Frieza does make his intentions clear. He seems to desire the throne of Zeno. However, there is no way he can attain such a level of power. Frieza will be erased as soon as he steps inside Zeno’s palace.

13 Weaker: Sidra

Sidra is a God of Destruction so you would expect him to be powerful. He does possess Destruction Energy, but it’s nowhere near the level of others like Beerus.

In fact, even Frieza would be able to beat him.

Frieza is able to control Sidra’s Destruction Energy. He then sends it towards Goku who is barely able to resist. However, Beerus manages to get rid of it by merely blowing. Sidra is a very unimpressive character considering his status.

12 Stronger: Broly

Earlier we made the comparison of Frieza and Meta-Cooler. The latter was able to hold his own against two Super Saiyans, proving how superior he was to Frieza. Well, that was nothing.

Broly has the upper hand against four Super Saiyans and Piccolo (who is around the same level as the Saiyans). There’s no way Frieza would’ve been able to even scratch Broly had he been alive. Maybe he can get his revenge in the upcoming movie about Broly? Probably not.

11 Weaker: The Other Pride Troopers

This entry will be excluding Jiren, Toppo, and Dyspo. This is about the other seven members who are complete disappointments. Jiren’s universe was supposed to be one of the stronger ones.

So why do the Pride Trooper’s stink so much? They’re pathetically weak compared to Frieza. Not a single one of them (other than the exclusions) would be able to stand up to the might Frieza for more than a few minutes. If even that.
