Rosalina’s a pretty busy gal - in addition to watching over the cosmos, the Lumas, and commanding the Comet Galaxy, she’ll soon be curing illnesses and treating patients in Dr. Mario World starting tomorrow, thanks to a new update that adds her to the game, as well as other doctors, assistants, and stages.

Dr. Mario World is a free-to-play match-three mobile game in which players attempt to cure the Mushroom Kingdom of horrible viruses that have invaded the land. Players can choose among a variety of familiar faces of Kingdom residents to act as their avatar, each of whom possesses unique abilities. As they progress through the game, players will encounter different stages and have the ability to enlist assistants to provide extra benefits during gameplay.

The new update promises to bring new doctors, assistants, and stages. Several details regarding the update have been released on the game’s official Twitter, like Rosalina’s new role as a doctor. It appears that more characters will also be added as playable doctors in the game, though their identities are still unknown.

The Twitter account also reported the update would give players a chance “to travel to outer space and see a whole new galaxy.” A new world has been added to the game’s Stage Mode, World 8. It includes 20 new stages (281-300). Upon completion of these stages, a new Assistant will be given to the player as a reward.

Since yesterday, the game has been undergoing maintenance to ensure the new content is available beginning October 4, 1 AM PST.

Though Nintendo’s had some huge recent successes with their mobile games, Dr. Mario World remains the least successful mobile title in their roster. Upon the game’s release, critics slammed the generic and boring puzzles and microtransactions that inhibited gameplay, especially for the casual player. The inclusion of new doctors, assistants, and stages is a nice addition - but they don’t solve or address the biggest issues gamers and critics have with the puzzle game.

Dr. Mario World is currently available for download on the App Store and Google Play. The new update will be available on October 4 at 1 AM PST.
