After announcing his collaboration with Adidas on a new footwear design, Ninja was instantly roasted by Dr Disrespect on Twitter. The Mixer-partnered streamer revealed that the night jogger is dropping at the end of the month, entitled “TIME IN,” and The Doc wasted no time going after its style.
Dr Disrespect has essentially become the Wendy’s of streamer social media as of late, continuously roasting his fellow content creators on Twitter. This time around, he replied with “cute design” and posted an accompanying New Balance sneaker picture – implying an exclusive appeal to younger audiences.
Ninja didn’t hesitate to retort, targeting Dr Disrespect’s absence of shoe deals altogether, rhetorically asking “Whens your shoe coming?”
Dr Disrespect certainly doesn’t have the impressive brand deal that Ninja does with Adidas, but is no stranger to releasing his own merchandise. As of now, it looks like the streamer left it at that, electing not to incite more mud-slinging.
Recent Mixer recruit and Fortnite content creator FaZe Ewok decided to throw her hat into the ring as well, taking a brutal shot at Dr Disrespect’s E3 bathroom controversy, which resulted in his temporary ban from Twitch. It comes as no surprise that Ewok would defend Ninja, considering his support for her earlier in her career. She rose to prominence after a huge host from TimTheTatman, but squading with Ninja and his crew later on helped boost her to even more success in 2019.
Other big names in the industry offered their support for Ninja, such as DrLupo, Jericho, Sypher, and TSM’s official account – just to name a few. It will be interesting to see if the shoe sells well, and based off of the tweet’s 25,000 likes and counting, it looks like it absolutely will.
All-in-all, the banter is likely a positive for all parties involved. Dr Disrespect increases his presence and relevancy by taking shots at other big names, while helping build hype around whatever it is they are promoting. Even if the roasts do have ulterior motives behind them, it is pretty entertaining to witness regardless.
