With Half-Life: Alyx announced as a VR-exclusive title on Steam, everyone is again considering whether VR will truly take off. It seemed that the discussion had died down for a while, but with Half-Life: Alyx’s announcement selling out Valve’s Index VR headset, it’s become relevant again. And it begs the question of whether VR will finally become widespread. Further, on the console side of things, and given the success of the PSVR headset, when will Microsoft finally give in and join the VR competition?...

One of the producers mentioned the possibility of a single-player version of Dragon Quest X that could be released for the international market. The vast majority of the numbered Dragon Quest games are now available across multiple platforms, with the early titles being readily available on mobile phones, high-quality ports of Dragon Quest VII and VIII existing on the Nintendo 3DS, Dragon Quest IX being a DS title (and therefore playable on a 3DS), and Dragon Quest XI recently being released on the PlayStation 4....

Ubisoft’s incredible first entry into the God Game genre From Dust has been generating its fair share of buzz. Over here at Game Rant it’s been nominated for 2 best of E3 2011 awards - including Best Original Game and Best In Show. EA has responded to yesterday’s news that Ubisoft has entered into a partnership with Lucasfilm Games to make a new open-world Star Wars game to confirm that they’re still making more of their own Star Wars games too. A brand new PlayStation 5-exclusive Final Fantasy title entitled Final Fantasy Origin is apparently expected to be revealed at E3, developed by Nioh and Ninja Gaiden studio Team Ninja. According to a report by Fanbyte, who’s sources have corrobrated rumours which appear to have started on the ResetEra forums, the game will be an action RPG in the style of Nioh and Dark Souls and will potentially take place in the universe of the very first Final Fantasy from the NES, hence the title....

The good news is that it’s only been delayed by two weeks, with the new launch date being 7 December. Early Access is still four days prior, mind, and will now be on 3 December. Today Square Enix has brought the servers of Final Fantasy XIV down for a relevant update numbered 6.05, and the patch notes have been released. You can read them in their entirety, and there are quite a few new goodies to play with. Nintendo did it again with Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The latest entry in the strategy RPG series managed to deliver on what makes the series great while also introducing welcome changes. It’s a hard balance to strike, but the development team pulled it off and shipped a seriously polished product in the end. Except for one thing: the text is too dang small. I can already feel the comments digging their pointy nails of judgement into me from the future as I type this....

UK-based PlayStation Studio Firesprite seem to be working on a horror game, according to a new job listing. As spotted by Video Games Chronicle, the Liverpool developers are recruiting for a Narrative Director role on their website. It was this job listing that has given away the new title, which will apparently be a “AAA narrative driven-horror” game. Of course, there’s not too much given away about further details yet, other than it will use Unreal Engine 5....

Take a Philip K. Dick-style story set in a dystopia where the main character is on the run and you’ve officially got my attention. Foreclosed is basically what you’d get if you crossed Dick’s work with graphic novel sensibilities and then strung it together with tired gameplay straight from the early ’00s. The game has a retro-future look and the premise is actually quite intriguing, but the repetitive third-person shooter action and underwhelming forced stealth sections make it clear that the game is truly stuck in the past....

The Uncharted movie seems to be, at long last, underway with a 2020 release date and the casting of Tom Holland as Nathan Drake confirmed. But if you’re expecting the film to follow the plot of the games, you may want to think again. Director Dan Trachtenberg was speaking to GamesRadar about the upcoming film, saying he had no real desire to transport any of the four Drake-led’s games’ story to the big screen: ‘[I] have been approached with different versions of this tale and have always been not that interested in it because I didn’t really want to trace the game....

Bandai Namco just released the open-world adventure Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot last week. But that isn’t stopping the company from providing crucial updates to keep its experience worthwhile. The Electronic Entertainment Expo, or as it’s more commonly called, E3, will be moving forward despite the continued spread of COVID-19, otherwise known as the novel coronavirus. Recently, the Game Developer Conference was canceled due to coronavirus, leading many to worry that E3 would suffer the same fate. Despite the concern over the disease, a statement from E3’s organizers has asserted that the show is “moving ahead full speed.” However, despite that, the event’s organizers did state that they were “watching the situation closely,” and it’s possible that the show could still be canceled should the disease continue to worsen....
